For those of you venturing off the runs and might not be aware, watch out for the blow holes.   I've passed by quite a few this year without markings.  Hubby, the boarder, had one collapse around him today down in one of the bowls below Cow's Face.  Luckily, a friend was able to fish him out before it completely collapsed around him.  Apparently, the one that ate me last year is huge and was without a marker last time I checked.  I freakin hate those things!

Couple of us did a backside run and there were plenty of Fumerals in the Trees at the bottom NW chair. We need more Snow. I spoke w/ Alex Kaufman about this and they will not mark them. Glad your friend is ok.

Never encountered, what do they look like, how big etc., any pictures? How dangerous - do they go to the Mantle?

I havn't bothered with a trip to Bach due to snow levels not being worth the drive. This is good info though.

Question: Why would a ski are not mark known hazards? Or are they outside the permit area.

They are in bounds but off piste.  The one that almost swallowed Mr. Mtnbikegirl was probably 10x10 but we don't know how deep.  I might have video of what it looks like from our friend who had a helmet cam.

Thanks for the info.  We are going out there this weekend with the kids.  Do they tend to be located in one area of the mountain or can they be found any where?

Howdy.........
Most of the Fumerals are on the Westside of the Mt. NW,Outback chair. However,there are a few lurking Pine Martin and Skyliner. None are on Groomed runs.  Have fun & be safe.
