Cheap place to stay on Summit County, Colorado. Traveling alone

Dear new Friends,

I've have been to Colorado two times, my last time was this last November and I went to Breckenridge, Loveland, Arapahoe and Keystone. I already know the details of the area, Dillon, Frisco, Silverthorne.

This time I'm doing a trip by myself, I will be arriving at Denver on March, 04 and leaving on 14. I will be 10 nights and I'm renting a car. I'm planning to go each day to a different resort in the area.

The biggest problem is to find a good/cheap place to sleep when you are alone. It's almost the same price when staying 1 or 3 in the same room.

My first option was the B&B on Breckenridge, Fireside Inn, looks nice and it's $38/night. But they only have a 10 person/room and I don't think it will be comfortable since I'm planning on waking up at 6:30 and sleeping at 9:30 every day.

I looked at hotels.com and Expedia but I can only find very bad hotels for $90/night.

I'm looking for a good B&B or an apartment or a hotel. My Budget is $650 for 10 nights.

Any help will be appreciated.

With a rental car and going different places, try places in Dillon, Silverthorne, and Frisco.  There are a number of inexpensive motels in each that might work.

Stayed there a year ago in April and while its dated, it was clean and I think it might fit your budget and location.

Somewhat misnamed "Luxury Inn & Suites" in Silverthorne was decently clean and reasonable when we first visited Summit County a couple years ago. 

For a 10-day stay, I'd also look for available rooms and condo units through VRBO--vacation rentals by owner, http://www.vrbo.com/.

 

Most of the motels/hotels in Silverthorne/Frisco/Dillon have websites with posted rates, probably in the $50-60 a night range for a single, and most probably would offer some reduction for 10 nights.  I'd look 'em up (Google/Yellowpages works). check out the websites and then call for extended-stay rates.

I found on Hotel in Silverthorne, Silver Inn, they don't have a website, I found it on tripadvisor with 80% rate. I called and they asked me $750 with breakfast for 10 nights. At the moment is my best option.

I will keep looking.

A slightly off-beat option.

The Super 8 at Germantown is usually only about $50-55/night. It has equally good access to Loveland/A-basin, and also open up access to Winter Park.

But from there, it's a longer drive to get to Keystone/Breck and quite a un-comfortably long drive to Copper, Vail & Beaver Creek. Perhaps you can break your stay into 2 part, staying at Germantown and ski the nearby mountains, then move somewhere closer to do the other mountains? 

Agree Silverthorne is more central.

this  is a very good location if you want to be able to easily take the Summit Stage bus to Breck and Copper- IMO, easier than driving (and either paying for parking or having to take the resort bus)

I think I will always prefer going by car because I can leave my ski/boots at the car by 5:00pm and enjoy the city night/restaurants.

This is the schedule I'm planning on March:

Fri 05 - Keystone
Sat 06 - Loveland
Sun 07 - Copper Mountain
Mon 08 - Vail
Tue 09 - Beaver Creek
Wed 10 - Vail
Thu 11 - Breckenridge
Fri 12 - Breckenridge or Keystone
Sat 13 - Arapahoe and Keystone(after 3pm)

There used to be a place called Alpen Hutte in Silverthorne, I believe it's now called Riverside Lodge.  You may want to look into that.  However, for the best price and option, the Fireside Inn in Frisco is your best option in their bunk room. 

Also, check into the Mountain Vista Bed and Breakfast in Silverthone.  You can email them at mtnvistabnb@juno.com  They may have something affordable. Good luck

Speaking as owner of a full-time rental condo in Frisco, your budget is simply not realistic, by a factor of about 2.5, for a condo rental during the absolute height of ski season.  I don't know the Silver Inn, but that rate of $75/night with breakfast is incredible--you should grab it and run. I might also recommend a flexible schedule, assessing where the snow is best on any given day and going in that direction.

Check out the Summit Inn in Frisco. Basic but I have received some good deals in the past.

Raspritz, you are right about the flexible schedule. But I will be honest with you for example that I prefer to go to Arapahoe on a Saturday than Breckenridge, because of the big lines, even if Breck have new snow.
