Head iSupershape v. Dynastar Contact Groove

Hi all,

Both the Dynastar Contact Groove and the Head iSupershape seem to be great choices for a short radius ski.  I am considering one or the other in a 160 cm.  I am solely making my choice between these two skis.  I am 5'11" and about 170.

I will ski the ski slow and fast.  With the family and without.

I gather that the Dynastar is a little stiffer and may be a bit snappier out of the turns, but that the Heads may have the edge when skied slower and when used not where intended -- bumps, etc.  Any other defining differences?

Thanks in advance.

Can't help you with the Contact Groove, have never skied it. I do own a pair of the Contact 4x4's, FWIW. From my experience, the 160 SS may be a little short for you, most people your size that I know of are on the 165. I have skied both the 165 and 170, and the SS Magnum in a 177. The 170 tends to be a little stiffer than the 165, IMO, but I'm a 200 pounder, so comparisons most likely will not be the same for someone of your weight. The SS is a versatile ski, especially for an Eastern skier, in a variety of conditions, under the right feet. But make no mistake, this is not a wimpy ski. The carve plate underfoot gives it some muscle. It will tear up the groomers, as well as bumps and off piste, but may not be the ideal ski for learning to ski more difficult conditions with, it requires some imput. If you're not sure, it may be a good time to demo, there are plenty of demo events around at this time of year.
