Did they mount my bindings too far back? Atomic Race 412 [PICS]

 Hey all,

Just got my skis back from the shop. I have a feeling they may have mounted them too far back. I can't move the variozone adjustment more than 1 notches (From the front). I took the bindings off my old skis, with a similar plate, and the variozone worked fine. 

When it is set on "Extreme" (front-most position), the midway mark on the plate matches up with the midway mark on the boot. This seems good, but I can't really use the variozone adjustment!

Are they mounted on a race plate?

How long is your boot sole?  This used to be a problem on some Atomic bindings when the boot sole was < 300 or so on a Race Charger Plate, I beleive.

From the pics, it looks to me like the binding is at the outside limits of its adjustment range. The only way to get the max BSL out of the ESS/Atomic VAR bindings is to shove the toe all the way forward and the heel piece all the way back. It kinda sucks that you lose the VAR feature, but it is what it is (and it's the price you pay for having big boots ;-) ).

You can get the same issue on the World cup plate with a small boot sole.  At 285mm I usually find i can only get 2 or 3 positions.
