Metron 7 or Volkl Unlimited AC10

I am looking for a new pair - $400 budget.

I narrowed my search to: Atomic Metron 7, Volkl AC10.

I ski up to 20 days/season, mostly east (Onario, Quebec), occasional trips to the west.

Ski ability: 5-6, 5'10", 180lbs.

Going for 170cm ski length.

Any recommendation?

Since nobody's answered you yet, I'll give it a shot. I had the Metron 7's a few years ago (got them for practically nothing). I'm a level 7-8 and they weren't enough ski for me. They might be fine for you now as a level 5-6, but there's really not much room to grow into them. I've never been on the AC10 but my guess is that it's the same story.

For $400, I think you can get a lot more ski than either of these.

If you're looking for room to grow, look at the AC20 or 30, the 10 is a beginner ski.  If you're looking for a deal, search the web and look for some K2 Apache Sidewinders.  They are last years model and they don't make this one any more.  Noticed some great deals on this ski and it would be a winner for someone in your situation.  Good Luck

Hey, Go with the Metron7's.  I ski mostly in West Virginia and a yearly trip to Breck.  They are excellent on ice/hardpack, and I think very fun/easy to ski for my level.  I ski mostly blues and the non-icy blacks. Level 6-7ish.

One caveat, make sure you get this ski tuned correctly.  Had my local ski shop tune it incorrectly (needs a 1 degree tune), and they were a little off, but go for it.   I'm thinking about buying another pair of the Metron 7, when my current pair gets too many miles on them.
