I need New Boots !!!!!

 This is my first thread....

I'm 29 6"3 200 pounds, very aggressive skier! Most of my "skiing experience has been on piste, floating the deep stuff has been on my board.

So to get to the point, I have decided to buy 2010 Mantras 191. (first wide ski, I currently run a Speed machine 170 (Nordica) Love them!!!!

Now I'm looking for some new boots, the problem is I need a boot stiff enough to rip groomers all day on my Nordicas and a boot that also works great for my Mantras.

Anyone have any thoughts?

I have looked at,

Nordica, speed machine (boot)

Dallbelo, KR Cross

Thanks!

Check out my detailed review on the Daleboot http://www.epicski.com/products/daleboot-vff-pro .  The VFF Pro is stiff enough (or they will make it stiff enough) for the carvers you have, but it can be softened for your powder boards (you pop the lever in back of the boot for powder or walking, or use a screwdriver inside the boot).  It is truely a custom boot.

Here is another idea.  Buy some softer boots for the pow and get a pair of older HEAD Raptors from Level 9 Sports for $120.  Beats paying $700+ for the new ones.  At your weight the 120 flex should be good for recreational cariving with the Speed Machines

I would guess 130 to 150 flex, depending on how hard you want to go and how much too soft your willing to suffer on the hardpack and how much too stiff you want them to in the deep stuff.  Just my uninformed opinion.  As far as brands, whatever fits your foot - see a bootfitter.

Or you could get two sets of liners: one set of custom foam liners tripple-stacked adding stiffness and rendering the free flex boot position useless for the groomed and the other liners a regular softness so all the bells and whistles function on the boot.  Then you only have to swap the liners for powder days.  Just a thought.  If you have the money get two pairs of boots.

Or you get tele gear or AT gear for those powder days.

Those are all great suggestions, thank you!!

I will look into each of those ideas and determine which is right for me. The one great thing is you all confirmed what I was thinking, and that was that you want a very stiff boot for carving and softer boot for powder. Its going to be tough getting all in one!

Thanks again!

Check out this thread in "Ask the Boot Guys" on racing boots. There's starting to be some good info there.
