Looking for a go anywhere do anything ski

I'm moving up to the mountains in December and need a pair that I can rely on that will do anything from powder to moguls and be bullet proof. I don't have much to spend so something at least a year or so old would be best. Any suggestions? and anywhere I should be looking in particular?

If you provide more info like height and weight, preferred skiing speed and style/background, what you're on now and what you like/hate about them, which mountains you're moving to, etc, you may get more responses.

Yeah, I'm 6 foot and weigh 160. Right now I have a pair of 180 teneighty moguls, and my only other ski is an old 160 teneighty from like 2001 which felt great back when I was in middle school. I grew up skiing at winter park and hitting bumps every day but  I'm planning on moving out to Utah or Steamboat so it would be great to have something I can ski powder in, but also carve well and just let me cruise around in. I guess what I want is an all mountain ski that I can use day after day and hit powder if it comes up.

Among new 2010 models something like a Line Prophet 100 comes to mind. At 100mm wide it is a good general purpose tool for most Western conditions. If you want something narrower for more mogul use, the Dynastar Distorter/Spin is a good call as is the Blizzard Cronus.

Among older skis here is a review I wrote last year on the Blizzard Answer. It is also a very good wider choice for all purpose use.

Volkl Mantra or Gotama are great all-around skis
K2 Apache Recon or Coomba

If you don't have a lot of money to spend, hit the ski swaps, ski shows that sell skis and get to the shops early to find last years or even 07-08 model skis.  I agree above, between 90 & 100 mm underfoot is a great all mountain ski

Two options I can think of...

1: A medium to softer flexing ~100m wide AM board (like a gotama, seth, Scott P4, etc...) 
If you seek out off piste steep and deep stuff every day with a few bumps and groomers if they come up then this is what you want.  If you want to get into more gnar and biger lines at the resrots. This is what you want.

2. A K2 PE.
If you are going to be all over (50/50 frotinside and backside) PEs are available used really cheap. They ski great in bumps and the pow. As good as a as many conventional 100mm boards for pow (especially if you are 160) . Great bump and tree ski. Much better for bumps than anythign 100mm wide. And are solid for groomed runs.

You can find almost all of the skis named above from '09 on line. Based upon your description go 90 - 100mm and you should be very happy. Good luck.

NYSkier55:  I agree, if you;re looking for a one ski do everything, steer clear I would steer clear of dedicated powder skis and stick to 90 to 100 mm waist.  Lots float in powder but still able to handle the groomers, bumps and trees.  Just remember, 10 years ago over 80 mm waist was considered a wide powder ski.  Times have changed...

Wow, thanks for the feedback. I'll be checking out some 90-100mm skis. How would that width be on bumps? if anything I'll just take out the 1080 moguls when I need my fix. I'll post back with more questions as they come up.

I have heard the Prophet 100s are not the greatest in the short turns but somthing like a Volkl Bridge 92mm might be a good choice, because im pretty sure its much softer then the 100...

I like to ski...

Have I got a ski for you - last year's Blizzard TItan Cronus. I use it here in the east for virtually everything except for the hardest cover when I bring out the Blizzard Supersonics. Skied it at Vail last year and felt so good on them that I pushed my own personal limits and went into the Daly Chutes when I was at Deer Valley. It is 88mm underfoot. Let me just put it this way, if a Golden Retriever were a ski, it would be a Titan Cronus. Check my review if you like,

And check the "Deals" forum - I think they are going for around $450 complete. Can not get much better than that.
As for size, I have it in 173cm and am 170lbs and 5'9. It skis short.  Here in the East that is a perfect size. Out west I'd go a bit longer.

Correct on both counts but not for the reason you think. The P-100 is as nimble in short turns as any 100mm ski (which is not very) The reason that it's not terribly nimble is not that it's real stiff (it's about a medium) but that it's just......uhhhhh......big. The Bridge is not softer at all. If anything it may be a tich stiffer in the tail. However it for sure is more nimble than the P. This is because it is narrower and has quite a bit more taper.
