How convenient! The perfectly logical argument ... for sheep.

George Carlin was absolutely right.
Yes, George was right for George, TomB is right for TomB, etc. I'm eternally thankful for the freedoms we have here in the US to practice whatever faith
or not. I just wish the fundamentalists would quit messing with what freedoms we have left and restore the ones recently taken away.

So, reality or better yet actuality is based soley upon what you are able to logically grasp. That's not egotistical or anything, no, not at all.
News flash: there's things in this universe that you don't understand, simply put, they are too big for your mental capacity. Deal with it. For example, you simply cannot comprehend the awesomeness of my skiing...and ability to pick up chicks.
A lot of people that do not understand something or mentally comprehend it they explain it by saying god did it. Man has always needed and explanation for things. We are very curious creatures. From the beginning of time man has used "god" to explain the unexplainable. Look at every religion from the start of time. The various gods were responsible for the things like weather and other natural occurrences that man did not understand at the time. Just because you can not understand how something happened does not mean a god is responsible for it, although it can be the easy answer. It is not egotistical at all either that man has painted the images of these godly beings in the form of man.

Actually that is not entirely true. Most of our founding fathers were more correctly categorized as "
deists".

being moral and being religious arent really the same thing.
In the bible it states to respect those who garner respect, in reality christians themselves have slaughtered more people than any other religion, due to being 'different" than them. Even to this day there are christian sect who still hate people who like people of the same sex, turn a blind shoulder to racism and generally dont practice what they preach. Ironically the people that they hate the most are morally some of the best people on the planet. The people christian dislike the most are the people who on those planet are the true pervayers of tolerance and understanding. Irony I tell you.
Simply put only the weak minded need religion to keep themselves inline. Good people can be good people with out a set of laws to gover them and scare them.
