Anyone ever heard of it? Anyone owns it? Is it worth of the money?

Used to be popular with the jet set. Expensive. Generally non-technical glam wear.

Did someone mention GAPER wear?
The world is full of people who think they can but few who try.

Betting it comes back around, myself. I have a couple of decades old jet black Bogner one-piece "jumpsuit" put away that I plan to soon break out and start wearing again. It's very comfortable, and still fits me well. It was a pretty technical suit for its day too, with great features and the ability to move very flexibly and quietly.

I'm expecting to see sleek tailored one piece suits again - they were great then, and you know how everything comes back around eventually! I often miss the old ski fashions when I see some of the baggy shapeless fashions of today...

Nice range of opinions. I like that.

I checked the website and I don't think it's non-technical wear at all. You can check for yourself http://www.store.bogner.com/man/bogner-ski/group/17509/product/42238/Productdetails.produktdetail.0.html

Of course their prices are crazy and I mean CRAZY.

Gotta say that I love seeing Bogner on rich ski bunnies, rather than some rapper-wannabe baggy clothes.  Very easy on the eyes.

Compare the fuzziness of those "specs" with any credible technical jacket. Virtually all of which are available for at least 30% less. Are you trolling?

I actually used them 15 years ago... Bogner was at that time one of our national team suppliers, so if we like it or not, we had to have it. They were one of worse jackets I ever had. But as some people stated already, they are suppose to be a must if you go "skiing" in Davos or St. Moritz ;)
I was just looking (out of curiosity not because I would want it) few of Bogner jackets last time, and for 900-1200eur/jacket (plus about same amount for pants) they feel like a bad joke. You can get for very similar money Kjus clothing, which is light years ahead of  Bogner, but in my opinion also far from worth of money. 1000eur for jacket is ridiculous in my opinion, no matter what jacket it is.

Of course I'm not trolling. Do you see any signs of it?

 I fortget if it's the Dartmouth or UVM ski team that is sponsored by Bogner. Anyway, when you wrap up a bunch of extremely fit 20 year olds in it, it looks pretty good. I wouldn't pay what it costs, but it looks like good stuff to me.

I don't think Bogner always had such a reputation. I remember that in the 60's my uncle had a Bogner jacket. It was a handsome nylon shell with a black mohair lining. No mink. No patches. No gaper-wear. Just a damn nice jacket made in the Austrian/German manner of the day. What the hell happened?

For my weight and height, the 170's require a constant and firm pressure to perform.  Since you are 15 lbs lighter, the 170's might not be playful enough for you.  I wouldn't worry about losing any speed.

Maybe its my age but I think that Bogner turned in the 80's. The only people that I knew who wore it were "pretty" people. I would describe them as people who could ski, but were not skiers. It was crazy expensive and came in offensive colors.
Despite what spindrift said, I agree with dawgcatching, the women that wore it were very easy on the eyes.

Are we there yet?

I thought Bogner was the guy that really injected high fashion into skiing.  Very popular in Vail or Aspen or anywhere $1000 seems like a good deal on an OK jacket.  My wife has a pair of Bogner ski pants and likes them (year end 1/2 price sale) but I still don't get it.  I'd rather have anything by Arc Teryx or Patagonia.

Other then looking for nice looking women in stretch pants, i see no reason why bogner should even be in existence. Mr. Bogner, the man,  did do some james bond stunt work which must be credited however.

Im not one to laugh at any skier's outfit, as ive skid in trash bags when needed. HOwever, the concept of a bogner ski outfit is comical.

This thread smacks of trolling.

Bogner was skied by Bond in "The Spy Who Loved Me" and "A View to a Kill" for sure.  Not sure about "For Your Eyes Only" where they were at Cortina.

I think we all know why Bogner continues to thrive, and it really doesn't matter what we "expert skiers, or at least expert posters"  think about the "technical aspects" of the clothing or the pricing

Which, in turn, have a vested interest in maintaining that 'credibility'  by way of tech-spec bombardment.

Bogner may be gaper wear today, but they nearly invented an industry.

Bogner was the quality and maybe first real 'technical clothing company in the ski industry.  Think they invented stretch pants and the fabrics.  May well have brought out the speed suits too.

Buddy Warner was skiing for a Willy Bogner film when he died in an avalanche; they were skiing under the ropes, sound familiar.  His movies were the closest thing to extreme skiing in the early 60's.

Growing old is mandatory.  Growing up is optional.

Say what you want but you can thank Willy Bogner for those tight stretch pants you see on those lovely women on the mountain in Europe.  But it was said best above:
Bogner = fashion & price
Arcteryx = function & price

Bogner has always been known for high fashion in functional ski clothing. Back in the early 90s my ski school was out fitted in Bogner parkas.  Very nice jackets. Some of the details such as the neck closure which allowed you to snug up a sort of ample  turtle neck and which worked very well to retain body heat and keep out blowing snow I've never seen on any other ski parka. The major drawback of them was the durable breathable fabric which, when the waterproofing  treatment had worn off, did little to repel rain.
