Hey guys
I've been browsing your forum for a few days now and there is a wealth of information out there thanks a lot.
My question is a bit specific though so i thought i'd get on and ask you all myself.
Im getting my first pair of brand new skis for the winter season (my last skis have been ex rentals that i managed to pick up cheap as chips).
I'm all about being able to hit the steep pistes hard and fast, but i'm a bit of a powder junkie as well so i need an all mountain ski. I ride park occasionally and will hopefully get to more this winter but i think piste and powder are my mine criteria. I love carving tiny little turns but also like getting a little bit tricky between trees. I think i've settled on the new Armada ARV's as my ski of choice, they seem to fit my idea of a good time on a mountain.
This is where things get tricky. The shortest ARV's are 165's. I'm 5' 10" but only weigh about 115 pounds. I've had a look on some ski length calculators on the net and its recommending 161 (based on skiing expertise and aggression- both of which are at the top) but i've seen other charts based purely on weight and they're recommending as low as 140!! I've seen things saying its okay to give or take 5cm on length but 140 is ridiculous for someone of 5 10 surely?
I think i had my heart set on the ARV's but will my skinny ass ruin it for me?
Just for the info, my last skis were K2 fujatives at 169 and although i had some good times on them i think i may benefit from something a little shorter and stiffer.
Confirmation of it being okay to go ahead with the 165s would be ideal but failing that i'd love some recommendations from you guys
Big love
