Nodica Enforcer length (177 or 185)

Hi,

I am looking for confirmation on length if I were to get the Nordica Enforcer.  I am mid-thirties, 170 lbs, just about 5’11”, and have been skiing for 30 years.  Once upon a time I was a level nine, or so, and now I ski somewhere near there. I am leaning toward the 177 and think most reviews support that.

My focus for the ski would be steep off-piste, though I would be using it all over.  I rarely ski a ton of fresh powder, so the ski would get more use in crud and chopped up powder.  I will spend some time in the bumps, understanding I am not getting a bump ski, and I will spend some of my time on groomers with the family.

I don’t get to pick and choose when I ski based on conditions.  So, I am thinking about the right length for the average day.  Most of my skiing out west in the next few years will be out of Denver and SLC, with four days out of SLC and four likely in Steamboat this year.

So, input would be appreciated on whether to get the 177 or 185. Thanks very much.

At your weight, you could ski either size. It really depends upon what kind of feel you want. The 177 feels exceptionally quick and nimble with a very high fun factor. The 185 feels much more "big mountainish" Naturally you need a little more commitment to speed to need the 185. I love the 185 myself but I go 200#. I'd say I'm a technically oriented L-8.

Get my 169s...  Just kidding.  They are too short for me and for you too.  I do like the ski though.  I think you might like the 177.

I am a bit smaller than you at 5 foot 9, 150lbs, fairly aggressive, and I found the 177cm to be plenty of, but not too much, ski for me.  I would say the 177 if you are looking for a good all-around length, 185 if you are charging big open spaces.

That is a great ski, BTW.
