Rochester, NY anyone?

I will be in Rochester with a co worker from Nov. 8-13. Anyone close by that would like to grab a drink with a fellow bear. What can we do to kill time after 4:00 weekdays, We will be in Webster at the iGen Training center for the week. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Definately up for meeting to share a beverage being available 11/9-12. If you like ribs, blues and microbrews then the Dinosaur Barbeque is a must. Hot wings, big screen spots and a "Cheers" environment, then Jeremiahs  is worth a peak - karaoke on Tuesday and Friday nights.

PM me for contact detail.

Is Dinosaur in Rochester as hard to get in as the one in Syracuse? Good stuff indeed. To the OP, if you've never been to the Buffalo/Rochester area, definitely make room for wings too. Wings sold outside of this region just aren't the same. I like the Beef on Weck as well.

BTW, since we are talking about Rochester, what are the other ski shops besides The Ski Company around there that's worth the while to stop? I'd like to shop for a speed suit (not for me). My family will be there in two weeks over a weekend.

Enjoy the wings and weck.  I miss them, and I miss the apples and cider right now too.  But I have Chiavettas sent here by the case.

Snow.

...and for the record. Rochester doesn't make wings. If you want local cuisine, have a garbage plate. If you want wings and weck, come to where we actually know how to make them...

Yeah, Rochester is close enough to make a difference though. No? Of course, if there's time, the extra hour drive is probably worth it.

Just like skis made in Austria are better... wings made in Buffalo are better.

Duffs, Bar Bill (East Aurora - Rick should know this one), Anchor Bar Shannon's, Caputti's (sp?), Gabriel's Gate, Fat Bob's, etc... Hell even the UB dining halls make damn good wings. You can't go wrong here.

That said, if you can't get here, Rochester is the next best option. Fun city. I don't recall very well, but I'm pretty sure the last time I was on A-street I had a blast.

Oh yeah... the shop question - Snow. Not sure if that was picked up. Talk to Timmy.

Nick Tahou's is the place for the Garbage Plate Special. Make sure you wash it down with some Genny Cream ale's
320 west main Rachacha. or www.garbageplate.com.
If it's Sea food you want, Palmers Market, but they close around sunset.

Snow. Got it. Looks like it's in the same neighborhood as Ski Company. We are staying at Henrietta, so it's perfect.

Now, that got me confused when Heluvaskier mentioned it. Thanks for clearing that up.

Snow and Ski Company are owned by the same people, but with some different product lines both in hard goods and soft goods ( Snow tends to be more upscale in their clothing lines).
They are the last two B&M ski shops in Rochester except for the chains like Dicks.

Early November is a rather boring time in Rochester as we anticipate the upcoming ski season. The weather is supposed to be in the high 50s-low 60s on Monday and Tuesday, so you'll get a break there. Another restaurant suggestion: Beale Street. We haven't eaten at their Webster location, but have had good meals at South Ave in the city. Some of the same stuff as the Dino, but more Cajun oriented. Nightlife-the hoppin' clubs are in the East and Alexander area in the city.Pick up a copy of Freetime-it's the local entertainment guide.

If you guys plan on meeting at the Dino for a beer on Thursday the 12th PM or post it here-I'll try to make it down........

The lot is a bit small for fixed wing so a pick up in a chauffered 1998 Durango motorcoach with 312,000 break in miles could be arranged .....

Should I add Jules to the guest list ???????

Anyone here try Sammy's wings in the Falls?  They're my personal fav's along with their pizza.  (Does Niagara Falls still count as Buffalo?)

I haven't hit too many spots in Buffalo proper, other than the few around the arena.  I just haven't seen the need to drive the extra 20 minutes or so when Sammy's is SO good.  As well, my sources tell me that the Anchor Bar doesn't measure up, though I really want an excuse to go try the original wing.  Could my sources be right?

I counted East Aurora... so the falls counts I suppose... as long as its the US side. I've not had Sammy's though (don't get up there much). My personal favorite is Duff's though - better than Anchor Bar IMO.

I don't miss home much but all this talk of Dinosaur BBQ, wings, and just looking at the Bristol Mt website and finding out they are installing the ONLY NEW HIGH SPEED QUAD in the east this year, I am quite homesick!

By the way, if you like subs, DiBellas (and the sub shops in Wegmans) are the best I've ever had. My father no longer has to ask where the first stop is after I get off the plane.

Have fun at DBBQ guys.
