Loveland on Halloween

I had a meeting in Boulder, so I stayed over to ski on Saturday. Beautiful weather, good snow, a couple of reasonable slopes, and surprisingly light crowds. There were even a few skiers in costume. You should have been there!
The only time it was a little crowded was 10:30 am to 2 pm, and even then it wasn’t too bad. Occasionally I waited on the hill to let a knot of people go by. I probably never waited more than 5 minutes in line. After 3 pm I was skiing right onto the lift.
I took my boots and demoed skis, using the “try 3 skis” deal at the Sport Shop at the base. They have good skis and good people there. (I tried a slalom-ish Nordica Mach 4 Power (178), the Volkl Gotama (178), and the Icelantic Shaman (184). I’ll put up a capsule review in the gear area.

Here's the run under chair 6.

and the blue off of chair 1 (Spillway, maybe?).  Go kiddo, go... (Just a bit of an A-frame.)

Hey look!  Its a skiing banana!

And here's Good and Evil getting ready to battle for skier's souls:

I heard it was crowded up there yesterday.  You should checkout the costumes on Loveland's Facebook page.  Hysterical.  Dustin got some good ones.

Glad the Sport Shop treated you right.  Sue Booker keeps things running right up there.  The costume's the Sport Shop staff were wearing were funny.  Ski School desk staff were even funnier.  Patrol even dressed up.  I shoulda gone.  All my friends were there.....

I teach snowboarding and pegger ski biking at Winter Park Resort.
What's pegger ski biking?  Glad you asked!
Ski biking at Winter Park on a powder day...ahhhh.
