In need of some expert advice.

I am 5'6" 110 pounds and 14 years old. Im definitely an expert skiier but I have never bought skis before. I live in New York and I ski Belleayre/Catamount a lot. I also got out west for maybe two weeks a year to places like Alta or Telluride. Thats why I need some help. Ive been mainly looking at two pairs of skis, the Blizzard 7.6's of this year and last years Volkl grizzlies. I'm looking for great skis to carve some groomers, but also tear up the backside. Are either of the skis the right ones for me. If so which and if not any suggestions. Also if i want to ski these for a couple years what length would be right for me.
Thanks.

Grizzlies...NO WAY. You are much too light to be anywhere close to utilizing that ski the way it was designed to be skied, way too stiff for a 110 pounder. I do not know much about those Blizzards but they look a little narrow for any tearing up of the backside. You are probably growing like a weed now, and adding weight. If I were you, I would demo several skis early this season, then buy some good used skis from someone here on Epic. Sell them at the end of the season and do the same thing for a couple more years. By then, you will have a good idea of what type ski works best for you, and what size...then spring for some new ones that you won't outgrow so fast.

If ya really want to buy new now, study up on skis that are more on the soft side than those Grizzlies, and a bit wider than those Blizzards.

Just my opinion. Have a great season whatever you end up doing, and be sure your boots fit very well, they are far more important than skis.

Ive never owned a pair of skis, seeing as my parents say that I will grow out of any pair within six months. Snowfan what other pair of skis would you reccomend that are fatter than the Blizzards?

easternpow, you could probably buy either of those skis and make your way around, but IMHO both are too stiff for your size.  You may be better off looking for something more like the blizzard Cronus, which is a decent midfat with some forgiving flex.

Surviving is essential, thriving is incredible!

I've got a pair of 169 Nordica Enforcers with look PX12 bindings you might like for an all around western ski.  You won't outgrow them soon.  I thought they were a fun, ripping ski, but too short for me.  I'm 5'10", 165 lbs, and a level 9 skier.  They have about 6 days on them, all in powder.  I want $300 + shipping.  Here are some pics.

TPJ's skis would work for you in the East with about 10-20 more lbs on your frame.

I honestly think, right now, for Belleayre and the Catskills, what you really want is a 13-17m radius 150-160cm technical (i.e. non-fat, 75mm waist or less) ski.       Especially if you ski early season, or plan to do more than 20-25 days in NY.

And then rent out west.

Those Enforcers are a bit burly for 110 lbs, but not insanely so for a strong skier  They are a great western oriented ski IMO a great crud buster, maybe not as great for a general purpose eastern use.  I would like to sell them, but only to someone who wants them.  Good luck finding the boards you want.

Not bad.

Have you thought about using a high intermediate-advanced womens' ski at all, for a year or so until you come into some growth?

Get a used pair of head supershapes at 156cm for the east if you like small turns.
You might benefit from checking out expertskier.com you get stats and reviews on skis for the past few years.  Match your turn radius to the stats, narrow it down the the skis that carve well, have the expert symbol on them, and in the shortest length.

Youl'll have to take someone elses advice for your out west ski.

If you are 14, you will likely be putting on weight in the next few years, any thing that works well for you at 150 lbs, won't work at well at 110 lbs.  So forget about keeping them for a few years.  Buy used.

Don't get female-specific skis unless you have a female body.

I think I like the sidewinders, since their not too expensive, but have great crudbusting capabilities but can also float. Any other feedback is still welcome.
