Boot fitter in Austin, TX Area?

It has been several years since I have been skiing and I now live in the Austin, TX area.  I have planned a trip to the Denver area to ski in Feb and I finally want to make the plunge into getting boots and I want a proper fit.  I looked at the wiki and didn't see any fitters in the Austin area.  I did notice a quick google found a sail and ski place that does "boot fittings" but I have no idea of the quality of work.  I prefer to not spend my entire vacation boot shopping and instead enjoying the trip hence hoping somebody knows of somebody in Austin.

Other info that may help depending on retailers in the austin area:  I am 6'4" 210lbs, ski blues and occasional blacks and want to get better at blacks in the long run.  I only get to ski about once a year now :-(  I love speed and will probably ski more aggresive as time goes on.

Any recommendations on fitters?

your best bet is to go to a couple different shops that advertise boot fitting and go down a check list.
1. do they carry any boots over $400.00
if so go to step 2
2. do they ask "what is your shoe size?
if so RUN,  if they ask to measure your foot go to step 3
3. start trying on boots.

At your height and weight you will likely need a boot with AT LEAST a 100 flex preferably a 120.  These boots typically are well over $400.00 and more likely over $500.00.  A lange super blaster is $580.00.  Hence step one.  I know of some shops in TX that do not carry performance boots because they can't sell them.

That is one of the best tests on how to find out if a shop knows a thing or two about boots that I seen in a long time. Most of my boots are over $400 :)

Thanks guys!  I thought I had put "notify me" but apparently not so I lost track of this thread.  I went to sun and ski today and will hopefully hit up sail and ski tomorrow.  They did actually measure my foot today but the boot selection was ermm, lacking.  I wish there was a Lange Dealer here but looks like a no go.  I was curious about the 100's and 120's.

Tried on the Salomon Mission RS7's and RS10's.  The RS7's seemed a little soft for my height as per what you mentioned and had a pressure point that is still making my foot hurt this evening.  I have pretty narrow feet so that rather surpised me.  The RS 10's fit nicely but I want to see if I can't find a pair of Impact 10's to try in the area.  Internet prices for last years model are worth it and the local shop will fit the boot for a reasonable price.

Also considering bidding on a pair of Falcon CS Pro's 09's going for a low low price on ebay right now and just reselling if I don't like the fit.  Lots of work but I'd rather have a boot that will last me as my skill skills grow and can be formed to fit etc.

Well, I ended up getting the Falcon Pro CS's and I'm going to remove the bolts in the back as they feel a little stiff.  Other then that, they feel sooo much better then the RS7's and RS10's.  Nice tight fit without any pressure points.

I actually went to sail and ski and fit there after I got my boots and the ended up suggesting the falcon CS's and the impact 10's so I think I made a great choice.

I'll find out as soon as I get on the slopes.
