For what you are looking for the
Extreme would be just fine for you. The 174cm OTH is too short go with the 179cm you will be much happier it will perform much better in everyday conditions.
Binding wise it really depends on what you want to spend......
I personally would stick with a LOOK binding there retention is awesome and you can find some pretty damn good deals on them, here are a couple to check out......
Personally my first choice would be a
FKS 120. You are going to spend a bit more but this binding is really a tough one to beat!!!!!

Secondly the
PX12 Wide will save you a bit but will also get the job done very well.

And if you aren't interested in a LOOK (Rossignol is the same thing) check out a Salomon STH12.

where do you ski at? If this is back east 174 would be fine, if anywhere out west where you can opened it up or in euro land I think the 179 would be more prudent.
