I've spent some time researching and have gotten my choices down to the Mythic Rider and 888, so needless to say I was happy to see both listed here at great prices.  Are they both still available?  One other quick question: I'm on skis now that are 167, 75mm under foot, so obviously both of these choices are an upgrade in surface area.  With the increase in width, is there any advantage to going to a slightly shorter ski?  Any disadvantage with going slightly longer?  I'm 5'9" and about 165 lbs.

Well, I am your height and a little lighter, and like to go a bit longer than you are thinking with regards to your current skis.  888 in 177cm, and Mythic in 178cm are the lengths I ski.  Typically, I will be skiing more off-piste on either of these skis, and in those conditions, you will welcome the longer surface area.  Crud typically bucks you around a bit and requires a longer ski for stability: same with new snow.  That is why carvers are usually available only in sizes under 180cm, but the typical big-mountain ski is normally available starting at around 180cm, and goes up from there.

I like to size around head height for most skis close to 90mm underfoot. Seems about right in my experience. You are in between sizes on the Mythic, so you could drop to 172 and not lose much stability, but I prefer the 178 personally.  The 177cm 888 felt like the perfect length for someone my size.  If you are just going to use this as a carver on groomers, you could go shorter, but if that is the case, you wouldn't need something around 90mm underfoot anyways.

Both are still available.

I plan to call today to place an order for the 888's .  Is there someone specific I should ask for by name, or simply reference the original posting on EpicSki?

Great deals and prices. Do you ship internationally?  I ski australia (home) but also japan and colorado (heading to aspen in jan after having visited vail/beaver creek a few times before). I'm 6'2" and 200 lbs. I'm thinking the 888s or Magnum8.7s would be great for a traveller's ski.

I concur. They are 2 of the best skis for taking on a road trip.  Both can pretty much handle anything: hard snow groomers to fairly deep new snow.   You also may want to add the Watea 94 to your list.  You may find it to be a good choice. I really like the 888 and 8.7: they are 2 of my favorite do-everything skis around.

Not to hijack this thread, but did I just see your picture in the new Sunriver newspaper as one of the new owners of the Village Bike Shop?  If so, congratulations.  I will be out over Thanksgiving with my family.  I would like to drop in and meet you.

Must be someone else!  I just work here  Feel free to drop by and say hi though, and hopefully we will be skiing then.  That foot of snow we received the other day is about gone already,  unfortunately.

Dawg,

Fischer Watea 94 - any 176 lengths left?  I'm guessing not, but just checking to be sure.  Also, prices only include bindings when a binding is specified, yes?

Thanks.

No, only 2010's available in that length. I am sure we can get you a reasonable price on a pair, though.  Skis are flat unless otherwise noted.

Scott, thinking about replacing my 08 Mythic Riders with a new pair, love the ski. The one pair you have is flat. do you have any bindings available to mount? What would be the price for a package on those?

Sure, we have lots of bindings.  Many people choose either the PX12 or PX12 Lifter for that ski, and if that is the binding you are looking for, the price would be around $499 for the package (2009 Mythics) including mounting.

Lots of stuff: RFD12's for $159, RF11's from $125, several versions of PX12's from Look at around $150 or so, and some other random bindings (Elan ELX 14's at $130 is one of them).  We have tons of 2010 bindings as well that aren't too much more.

Yes, we do have some leftovers in the Mojo and Peak 15.  Prices on last year's (no change for 2010 on the bindings) would be $159.

Hey Dawg:

Just got my SSs - they look great!  I think I'm going to have a lot of fun on these skis when the snow starts falling again in the Rockies...

I have a few questions re: mounting bindings.

1.  The CP13 plate is pre-drilled for my bindings (2005-2006 Tyrolia FreeFlex 20), but the predrilled holes are partially filled in (see pictures).  I can just screw through this, right?  (Also, is there a difference between the SP13 and the CP13? - you advertised the ski with the SP).
2.  These bindings were mounted on a flat "drill-it-yourself" plate.  Are the screws for that the appropriate 8mm screws I need for the CP 13?
3.  Where do you (or anyone answering this post) recommend mounting the binding with regards to the center mount?
4.  Taking the answer to #2, what holes will I use for a chassis length of 319?

Thanks for your help and the great deal on the skis!!!

Dan

1)Yes, well screw into plate, not through plate into ski.  Don't need to do anything else unless you can see metal in the hole then tap plate holes first. SP13 if different is probably better/newer than CP13. Send DAWG an extra $50 if better.
2) Are they the original binding screws? do they have 3-4 threads potruding past binding bottom?
3) See answer 4
4) 312-351 holes for rear screws of toepiece. 312<319<351
305-326 for front screws of heelpiece. 305<319<316

Do you still have the Mojo 94's? Also, do you think the 173 length is too short for me..I'm 5'11 and 170, new to mid fats, and been on race skis for the past 4 years...Relatively aggressive skier looking for a new one ski quiver...Thanks

I would go 180cm.  The 173 would be pretty short. Consider that the running length, due to the twin tip, is on the short side, so it probably measures more like a 170cm conventional ski. I am a bit smaller than you, aggressive, and ski the 180cm.  173cm is probably better for park+pipe, or shorter skiers.  Unfortunately, I only have 173cm left.
