Anybody know anything about this presumably abandoned ski area at the bottom of the Alpine Meadows access road?  Might possibly have been called Deer Park?

Sorry, Smelly -- you're thinking of White Wolf, which is a nascent area, not a defunct one.

Mapnut:  I believe it was called Deer Park at one point, and Powder Bowl at another, before closing in the 1980s.  I have a couple of old guides to skiing in Tahoe that include trail maps; I'll try to find them.  The area suffered from a low base elevation and relatively spread-out topology.  It's currently owned by Alpine Meadows, which uses the old base area parking lot for employee and equipment parking, and some of the old buildings for storage, possibly administration as well.  The area is still skiable sidecountry via Alpine, and management has been rumored to have considered reopening and connecting the terrain to support a claim to higher vertical and greater acreage.

De nada.

Found the books.  The information in them is sketchy and basically regurgitated marketing material.  But if you want copies, shoot me your email address.

I remember that place.  It was right on the turnoff to AM.  I don't think there was a chairlift there, just a long poma or two.  IIRC there was also a small place at the turnoff to Squaw.
