Should I buy this ski package?!

Hello all,
I am fairly new to skiing. I skied a few times when I was younger and I would like to try it again. I want to buy my own skis so I do not have to rent everytime. Here is a post from Craigslist that I might buy. It says, "For sale slightly used Salomon XFree Downhill Skis (173) with Carver Bindings, Dalbello TX101 Ski Boots size 8, and Masters Ski Poles." The entire package is $100. I did my research and found that these are the correct size but I want to know if they are decent skis and if it is a good price. Thanks for the help!

Hi Gerickso,
Welcome to EpicSki!

The skis, bindings and poles are probably worth getting if you want to save money. Trust me on this one - don't buy your boots online!
Boots are the interface between your skis (a very precisely designed piece of engineering with a specific, repeatable shape) and your feet (a very precisely constructed organic shaped pair of objects that are unique to you).
If you want to save money on your boots in the long term, invest in buying from a good bootfitter. It will be more expensive in the short term, but will probably be the best investment you ever make in skiing.

If God hadn't meant us to ski, why did He give us mountains, snow and gravity?

For $100. that's a good deal. You can alway's take those boots to a fitter and see what he can do to make them fit you.

But Yes the boots are the most important part.

After you have skied these for a few times and taken a few lesson's. You'll be ready for a upgrade in gear.

Check back and let us know how your dong.
