Hi all,
Im am sixteen and have been saving up for my first skis for a while. I havent bought any up till now as i have been growing too fast to make it worthwhile. I am 5ft10 and 159 pounds and want to know what skis and lengths you would reckomend for me. I would say I am about level 7 and want to start skiing off piste as well as on groomers. I have been looking at the salomon lords as a possibilty but have things about them being not so good on piste. I also looked at the k2 extremes but read mixed reviews. I think semi twin tips would be nice and need something that can be used mainly on piste but also help me gain confidence on the powder.

Welcome foxtrot to your first post...my kids are 6 & 8, but I'll give you the advise I'd give them if they were 16...

Buy your first pair of NEW boots.  Go to someone who knows how to fit boots.  Used skis are no big deal.  You can always find someone who gets a pro deal and sells their skis after 3 months (that's how I buy mine), but you need boots that fit right.  My kids have never had new boots and won't until those feet stop growing!

You don't say where you ski, but it makes a difference...east or west?  Have you demoed any skis?  Anything you like?  Try something first before you buy new. Again, used skis are no big deal...you have a lot of years left before you become an equipment whore like the rest of us...just a guess, but I'd think you are in the 160 - 170 cm  range for length, but it really depends on the ski.
