I've been skiing for a few seasons and enjoying it very much. My wife and I attended the ESA Stowe event last year, and progressed accordingly.

I'm ready to buy my first pair of skis. I am still growing (as a skier), so I don't want to buy new, nor anything too exotic. I'd prefer to buy them in person in the SF Bay Area if possible.

I'm a mellow skier, about level 5-6 (comfortable on most blues, skiing parallel-ish with occasional devolvement into wedge when the going gets tough). I prefer cruisers and snow on the groomed side of ganky.

Do you have a pair of skis that would suit? Please hit me up!

I've purchased from these guys. Good quality ski gear and reasonable price. Surf their link. I had mine in less than  a week after buying online.

Hi Jon,
I have Fisher Wateas in a 176 it's the 84 model with a demo binding. 08/09 year LOVE them, got this years tho so last years have to say good bye. Their very light, and a nice size. Not so wide that your a powder hound, great on groomers and crusty stuff. I'm looking for $250. Their tunned, and hotboxed. Always do with all my personal stuff at the end of the season. PM me for photos. Read any of the reviews on them you'll find they are great for us adults.

Jon, where do you ski?  There are substantial differences among Tahoe resorts.

What have you rented, and what did and dislike about them?

I think I've only ever been to Sierra-at-Tahoe, and then only late in the season last season (April) and after a HUGE powder dump. I plan to spend this season hitting all the resorts around the lake and trying to figure out which ones I like before next season, when I hope to get a cabin share for the season.

I tend to enjoy groomers, just smiling, cruising, head turning back and forth like Ray Charles. I moved from the East Coast so I am somewhat bewildered by powder as of yet.

Oh, and the only pair of skis I remember renting from last season was actually Fischer Watea 84s, I think these:

I really enjoyed riding them. They felt a little mushy sometimes but I actually liked that because they were pretty forgiving.
