Is it really skiing, though? What would be the difference between that and base jumping without a parachute? It's not like he's skiing out the landings. In some cases, he even has to have other people dig him out of the snow.

Also, would you say that there's really that much skill involved (having balls is not a skill, BTW)? In the last one, he's almost thrown into a full rag doll by the wind resistance of his skis, and he landed on his head. Usually, landing on your head = fail.

someone said, is this still skiing? Of course it is... when I was younger, we did planned stuff similar to this, but not as crazy. These guys are skiing, they are doing it on shorter skis of course but he was turning his boards...

I thought the skiing on the cliff face before the first or second jump was really impressive.

He was skiing, and quite well at that, in his approach. But, he didn't land a single jump on his skis. On one of them, he even landed on his head.

To me, that's just crashing from a very tall height. How is that different from popping off your skis, jumping off the cliff, and then putting your skis back on after you've landed in a heap?

Very true.

The 3rd jump where he lands upside down is the current world record for highest jump ... not sure where it was filmed though ...

Personally I can't see the point in risking your life / limbs but hey-ho each to their own!

 :55 second was Jamie Pierre at Grand Targhee. He wasnt wearing a helmet FYI ;).

Thanks for the info guys. I actually included it in a video I made, see 1min into this video ...

I doubt a helmet would have done much from that height anyway ... it'll stop you cracking your skull, but won't stop your brain shaking inside your skull which is exactly what you're risking jumping into soft powder from that height.
