'09 Dynastar Contact 10

Good skis worth $565?  Opinions please.

What type of skis are you looking for? There are some brand new, never used or drilled that are out there. Give me an idea and I'll send you to the right place.

Thanks for that I thought I made them the title.  They're '09 Dynastar Contact 10s.  They're brand new at a well known ski shop.  They're last year's model so they're on sale for $565.  I'm just looking for any opinions on the skis.  Thanks a lot. 

There are lots of threads about the contact 10 (or contact Ltd, the 07/08 version), great skis. Not sure if they are worth $565 though, but google is your friend.

Thanks for the suggestion "simonbda".  I've searched google and couldn't find a definative, reliable price for the '09 Contacct 10s.  Do you or anyone else for that matter have any idea what a fair price would be?  I should also mention that the shop does offer free waxing for the life of the skis too, but I don't know if that's common practice for all shops or not.  Thanks in advance.

That's not a great price, I'd be very surprised if you can't do better than that. I was in the market for a pair of the Dynastar Contact 4x4"s last Spring, which retail for $300 more than the Contact 10 ($1299 as opposed to $999), and I found plenty of the 4x4's in the $450-500 range. So I'm thinking the Contact 10 should be somewhere in the $400-450 price range, max. Now, there's something to be said for buying from a reputable local shop, but your timing isn't all that great. Last Spring these shops were looking to give the stuff away rather than having to sit on it all summer. But now, everyone is starting to think about skiing again, and you've already missed out on the Labor Day and Columbus Day blowout sales, so from now on you can expect to pay more even for last years gear. I would do your homework, shop the internet to see what a fair price is on what's available, Then go down to your local shop and see if you can use the information to strike a bargain with them.

Just did a quick search, and found a pair of new 2009 Contact 10 w/bindings, sizes 165, 172, 178, on evogear.com for $399.90, and they will ship for free. If I was you, I'd grab them before someone else does. 

Thanks for saving me $115 Mac.  That means a lot because I had actually already ordered the skis at $565.  Today I called up the manager and was able to get him to knock the price down to $449.  It also comes with free mounting, free waxing and sharpening, and a free wax of an old pair of skis, so I figure that makes up for the $49 difference.  Thanks again.
