Nordica Hot Rod Modified: should I keep them?

So I ended up w/ a pair of Hot Rods I really don't need.  I am a huge fan of Nordica & they are not moving in gear swap......should I keep them or push to sell them?

178cm w/ marker integrated binder / Mint

+/-'s to the skis

+ I have them alrady, binding adjusts to just about any boot, I don't have any all-mtn skis, Nordica's, sidewalled ski

- I'd have to wax them along w/ everthing else, no one wants them, marker binding, I have too many skis already, mushy?

09/10 quiver:
 2 Nordica SLRs
 3 Nordica GSRs
 1 SG ski 
 1 MegaWatts w/ Dukes
 1 Rossi Squad in a 189 - may get tele binding, may get a alpine?
 
Has anyone skied them to have input?

They are a really damp sort of classic midfat. Solid carving. Not as planky as the other hot rod metal laminate skis. Decent all arounder. I would take em from you but really don't need more skis.

I think you've answered your own question. Nordica builds great skis and the Modified was one of them. The Mod. was/is a 74mm Top Fuel and that says about enough. Naturally, it won't ski like a race ski but I think you may possibly have enough of those.

Will you ski on them?  It's a great ski, but you already have performance skis by Nordi.

It depends on the input I would say.  If folks felt it to be a noodle (does not sound this way), I would sell them off.  The consensus seem to be that it is a solid ski & I could see myself tearing around after races on it........the dogs appear to like em

Hi iriponsnow:

In your minuses, you list "marker bindings".  Why?  Release or ramp angle issues?  I'd like to know the "rap" on markers, since when I was getting bindings put on a pair of new skis I purchased this season, when I mentioned "markers", my equipment guy said no and mumbled something about ramp angle.

My Top Fuels have be amazing.  They are a blast - fast - crud busters.  That ski will do you right, IMHO.

CP: I have blown up more Markers than I care to count.  2 Seasons ago I went back to them on 1 pair of GS skis......done in 1/2 a season.  More a durability issue than any else.

Personally, I haven't liked ANY of the XBS system skis, I just found the system took life out of a well constructed skis. You are good enough that you don't need any artificial enhancers to try to make a ski better.  Now, the new flat Hot Rods, they are indeed sweet.

Should the Marker Blow, I have my stash of FKS waiting in the wings.  If the bindings let me down, I'll remove the XBS.......sound like I'm keeping em.

 There was a recall on these, some had bad plates, might want to get them checked. The XBS cannot be removed from these, the flat version is a different construction.

I have owned both the 170s and 178s in the Modified. As stated earlier, Top Fuels with a 74mm waist.
I found both sizes to be great skis; I sold the 170s sooner than I should have because I found the 178s just a little much for some softer conditions. I only weigh 155# so a little light for the 178s.
Both the individuals that purchased them from me are expert skiers and both feel they are outstanding skis. No binding problems.

Modifieds are a very good all-mountain ski, with bias toward groomed.  I had a pair that I skied for two seasons, smooth, damp, good edge grip, no discernable speed limit, and very forgiving.  Not a race ski, but not a noodle.  No binding issues, its just fashionable to be a Marker hater. Good overall rig.

i decided to keep em for now.  took to get a grind & start from scratch on the bevel.  Thanks for the input!
