Best ski video cameras

I'm thinking about starting to film (if that the right word) my friends and l skiing and don't want to invest a lot of money. But l defiantly don't want to waist my money on something cheap.

What are the best ski cameras under $100?
Are there any decent ones(under $100)?
Should I go used?
How much does the editing software cost?

Editing software is free. There are some form of free video editing software on both PC and MAC systems. I preffer iMovie to Moviemaker, but they both work. I got My vid cam used from a friend for about $100. I think you could do a LOT better with a $200 budget.

I use a dell 4600 (that's what it says on the computer) and l use XP (if that matters)

Is iMovie for MAC and Moviemaker for PC or do you just prefer one over the other? Also are there a lot of used video cameras for sale, maybe TGR or eBay?

Some cameras shoot stills (photos) as well as video, although most that do are in the higher price ranges.

Given your budget, I think used is going to be your best bet. Even the least expensive Flip cameras (which would be my recommendation) are a bit over $100 (the Mino is $120 on Amazon.com).

I went on Amazon and there were over 1800 camcorders.How would l narrow down these camcorders to the ones l want? I want flash drive not hard disk right? What would be a good camcorder to look for on eBay or TGR for under $100 used? Could you guys give me some good cameras in the $100-$200 price range. I am totally new to this so ANY advice would be great. O yea and need a camcorder that shoots stills.

The big challenge is your budget. Without that, I'd recommend the Canon VIXIA series without the internal flash (I just use a card).

With it, one of the Flip cameras, I think.

On XP you would use Moviemaker. It's part of the operating system, so you should have already. On Ebay you can limit your search parameters by price and cut down the number of hits. You will get newly listed items that will go over your budget, so list items by "ending first" and you will see what you are looking for. You can also specify brand ect to further refine you search. I saw a great waterproof helmet cam sold by NRS that you could mount on your spray painted helmet. If I was better at the tech I would link my tele vid and you could see the $100 cam quality. An HD camera is better, but more expensive.

A video link to footage shot in one skiing day with a $100 used camera Panasonic SDR-S10. I like it because it has no moving parts and is pretty impact resistant.

l was looking on ebay for a camcorder and one of the ways to refine my search was the format. Some examples were: HD, HDV, DV, DVD, Digital 8, miniDV, Hi8, SD, and many more. So, what format do l want?

Maybe this isn't the place to post this (maybe l need to go to a computer thread place). But just incase here it goes..

What do you guys think about these camcorders: Kodak Zi8, Kodak Zi6, Kodak Zx1, Flip MinoHD, and Flip UltraHD.

What works best for a ski camcorder?
Durability?
Image stability?
Overall quality?
