Thanks for the welcome Dan!!!!!
When I started skiing 15 years ago New Mexico (Angelfire, Red River, Santa Fe ski and later Taos)  was our yearly trip.  There is something about the enchanted triangle that is very special to our family.  Maybe this is a good thing returning back to New Mexico; great vives, good people and very good skiing!  On a side note, the trip to New Mexico will cost us (condo, lift tickets and airfare to Albuquerque included) 60% less than skiing the big, popular western resorts.

Last week veiwed the 08-09 skier visit stats for Inland PNW (5 ski areas).  All were down in skier visits some drastically.  I would say that these stats reflect a turndown because of the economy.  Unemployment in the Forsest Industry is pretty bad and won't be making any quick reccovery.

One thing I have noticed is that some of our smaller ski areas are noticeably appreciating the Core skiers more - duh - since we are the people that would give up eating before skiing especially on a powder day.  This probably doesn't apply to some of the bigger more destination resorts and Ragin is right some of the prices for a 4 or 5 day ski vacation are downright ridiculous. The last issue of Ski magazine had an article on Ski  Countries Finest Hotels boy I guess this is OK if you are a milliionaire but.........

Maybe a Question should be entered?  Who really pays/supports skiing?  Skier visits, high rollers 1 trip a year, real estate, restaurants, shops, hype, hollywood, or   ALL THE ABOVE?

Ragin, sorry missed this as I was typing above answer/Q.   I certainly agree with you.  I have often wondered why poeple spend  so much money skiing an area that they can only use 20% of when they can go somewhere else and have a lot more fun, less money, nicer people, cheaper food and beer etc. Our areas up here are not crowded at Christmas yet people will go to CO. or Tahoe and spend their almost entire vacatio n standing in line.  Never made any sense to me.
