Rossi S7 vs Armada JJ

I was surprised when I searched for this comparison but i couldn't find anything. They seem to be pretty similar skis. I would like to demo first if possible so, are there other skis are comparable with these skis in a different brand (I can't get rossi demos,  possibly Salomon, Atomic, Icelantic). What are the differences between these two skis and other skis like it (maybe Czar)?

thanks in advance

The main differences are that the JJ has a much more symmetrical design and the mount position is further forward. The S7 is much more directional in shape (although still twin tip and not bad going switch). The JJ will be better for skiing switch and BC Booters ect due to this. JJ is also lighter. Other than that, very similar skis. I'd really like to get a ski in that sort of shape. Other skis in this category are Atomic bentchetlers, ON3P Billy Goats, PM gear Lhasa, and Moment night train.

Much different shape to the Czar. Czar is almost straight with a turning radius of about 40m. S7/JJ is about 17m so much more turny. The early taper on the S7/JJ allows a ski to have a short radius and remain unhooky. That shape is much more pivoty than the Czar too.

Hope this helps

Are the Atomic Bent Chetlers a five dimensional ski?
And is the S7 a heavy ski or is the JJ a light ski (for their width)?

I wouldn't call any of them 5 dimensional. Armada advertises the JJ as 5 dims but its really 3 dim with early taper, same as all the others in that category, which means the tip is not the widest part of the ski, the widest part is moved back a bit.

JJ's are a light ski, S7's are by no means heavy. My memory tells me there is not a massive amount in it but JJ's are lighter for sure.

Bentchetlers are basically as fatter JJ.

I would put it down to your skiing style. More traditional and like to go forwards more than backwards =S7. If you do a bit of both and like the centered feel= JJ. If you want a fatter JJ check the bent chetler. You can't go wrong as they're all amazing skis

Ummmm... then how do you define what is increasingly commonly referred to as a "5 dimensional" ski"?

Unless I'm grossly mistaken, that'd be a "narrow" or tapered tip, to a fatter section, to a waist, to a fatter section toward the tail, to a "narrow" or tapered tail (i.e. five points of measurement). Or thought of another way - a reverse sidecut ski profile with a "bite" taken out in the middle to introduce some sidecut. Which is effectively the same thing as the first description. Usually with no camber or a short conventional camber section in the middle -  that is hopefully carefully matched with the early taper.  And that includes most or all of the modern design  skis under discussion...

Am I missing something?

I would call something like the Armada ARG or DPS Lotus 138 5 dimensional, but i could be wrong. I believe armada was the only company who listed that shape as 5 dim. S7, Billy goat ect are all listed as 3 dims. This is exactly why i prefer to talk about them as tapered or R/R to prevent confusion.

If i'm wrong please correct me.

On second thought you are right, but i still prefer to say Tapered tip or R/R ski for ARG like skis

OK so it sounds like the S7 is the ski for me because I have never tired skiing backwards in powder (never had the right ski) and I never have skied on a center mounted ski (also never had the right ski). But this ski sounds really interesting but l would really like to demo first because l have never been on a rockered ski, powder ski, or a 5 dimensional/tapered/R/R ski. But that's really sad cause i dont think they have rossi demos in my town .

thanks for the input!

Armarda lists JJ's and ARGs with 5 dimensions in the specs..

S7, ARGs and JJs are 5 dimension skis.
