I bought some Rossignol Scratch Brigades (new) at bargan basement prices and I need to figure out what sort of bindings to put on.
I've got another old pair of skis here, 5 odd seasons old and they've got salomon S810's on them. The skis have probably been skiied 10 times in their lifetime, I used them for the first two days of this season. (10 DIN) - they 'look' like theyre in mint condition.
So:
1. I can rip the bindings off those skis and get them put on the Rossis. (cheap option, and I like cheap options)
2. I can sell the old shit skis and put the money into new or newer bindings (I dunno if anyone is really going to want to buy 5 year old K2 Escape 3500's)
3. I can keep them all and just buy new or newer bindings. (expensive option)
I've had a guy offer me his Salomon 916's for $300 (NZ dollars) before he heads back to Chile. Seemed like a good deal so I did a little bit of research online and it seemed like a lot of people bitch about pre-release on the 914/16's and also some issue with a single screw system on the toe binding which was coming loose.
Went to a local store and the dude in there said he didnt ski Salomon bindings so he could really comment on the 916's but he did know they released quite easily due to the way they were made. He said I should probably sell the old skis with bindings attached so that they still had some actual value and then put the money into better bindings. He recommended Marker Barons and a binding from Look (it looked exactly like the Axium binding on my Z10 Rossis)
As far as my skiing ability goes I ski all over the place, not 'well' but I absolutely love it. I'm skiing on 8 DIN at the moment, so not wound up at all. I bought the skis because I wanted something different. They're meant to be a fun ski for off-piste fun on the odd occasion when the snow softens up in New Zealand ;)
I weigh 80 kilo (180 pounds, 6"4) so I probably don't *need* a binding that cranks up to 16.
Whatcha recon? figured I'd ask some folks who wernt actually trying to sell me something!
Cheers guys.
