Raceboot fitter in Collingwood Area

I need to get race boots for both an 11 yr old and a 13 yr old.

I'm thinking that Collingwood Ontario would be the best place to get race boots.  Any recommendations on a good bootfitter in the Collingwood area who understands the needs race equipement (especially for kids)

Cam Powell at Sporting Life is always highly recommended - he fits a lot of the provincial and ski academy racers, as well as some national team ones. Can be tough to get time with though, tends to be pretty busy - definitely call ahead of time.

Not sure if he still hangs around the boards here, but Matt Distefano (jdistefa) does some boot fitting and is also a top notch coach. I haven't had him work on my boots, but heard good things from some others.

Skiis and Biikes is also a good option, but I don't really know any of the staff there, so can't make specific recommendations.

Hope that gives you a good starting place, send an email off to one of the senior coaches where your kids ski for some other recommendations.

Shane at Squire John's is also highly recommended.

 

If you're in Toronto, Skiis & Biikes has good fitters in their Don Mills & Mississauga stores as well, so they can get you off to a good start.  Then you can visit their Collingwood store for adjustments when you're skiing up north.

 

Whichever store you visit, call ahead for an appointment, and plan on an hour per child for an initial visit.  It can be better to fit each child separately if you have the time, but understandably this isn't always practical, especially if the shop is a bit of a drive for you to get to.

 

The 13-year old could be ready for footbeds, so allow more time (and a followup visit) for that part of the fitting process.
