I just bought another pair of skis. I think I need help.

Yes, you do need help.  Admitting you have a problem is the first step, however, so you're already ahead of the game.

Luckily, the cure to your affliction is to buy more skis.

 So, what did you get?

Reconizing the problem is the first step. Here are some simple questions to ask yourself.
1. Were said skis on sale.
2. Did you already have a pair like them.
3. Do you plan on skiing on them.
If you answered yes to any of the questions then I don't see a problem.

Yes

Yes

Yes

I got a pair of Coombas with Marker Barons and a new pair of skins. I have a similar pair of skis already, but with alpine bindings. I'm thinking of doing more side country with guides this season, since I'm probably not doing a catski trip. So the tour mode was attractive.

I too have an affliction..  My symptoms include trying on all my gear in the dead of summer, thinking about purchasing overlap ski gear (just because), tuning my skis over and over because they just aren't quite right yet..

If you have any of these symptoms the affliction is called FIRSTFLAKEITIS and it's HIGHLY contagious to skiers...  The remedy,  2 three foot dumps.....

It's okay prickly, the whole concept of "quiver-of-one" is highly overrated.  You gotta have a pair of boards for different conditions.

I don't think I've had just one pair of skis since Clinton's first term.

Someone has to support the ski industry, and you were selected.  And you, and you, and you, and me, and you........

Help? Never heard of them. What length? dimensions? radius? What kind of bindings are you putting on these Helps? Are they for powder? bumps? racing? You need to give us more information about these Help skis and your own ability, Jong!

It's actually only a problem if you paid retail.  If you got a good deal then its OK.  Its also OK to pay retail as long as they are this year's model and you REALLY REALLY wanted them.

I'm so happy I'm not alone.

Gloves are the tip of the iceberg. I only bought 3 pairs last season

Skis: Last year I bought Dynastar with px14s as my must-have powder ski to replace my previous must-have Volkl Sanouks. Somehow, without demoing, I walked out of the local shop today with Rossi S7s......help me

I was very happy with my quiver at the end of the season so in the offseason I acquired:
Nordica GS boards with bindings
New PEs and used bindings for them
Fatter Elan powder boards with bindings

err ummmm... and a new Forester!
None of the above was "needed"

Gloves?  Did someone say gloves?  Doh!  There's something I actually "need"!

I'm so proud of you, that I could almost cry.

Don't get me started. I promise I'm NOT going to that cursed Hestra sample sale this year. For the last two years my wife and I have come out $200 poorer, and at $25-30 a pair that's closing in on a lifetime supply.

Salomon STH14s...I "needed" a fresh set of bindings too

And 2 of our local CO resorts opened this week. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

So, having a job is good, in the sense that it gives me money to ski and all. I've also just discovered another advantage: I can order skis on the Internet, have them delivered to my office and stash them here. This opens up a whole new world of gear subterfuge.

So basically, your workmates are enablers then, just sitting back and allowing your addiction to control you?

Where can I get workmates like that? All the ones around here give me a hard time whenever I buy new stuff, to the point where I avoid ordering online since none of the delivery companies deliver while I'm at home.

Hey, you wanna see me do something stupid?

Yeah, the skis arrived here today, and I had to unpack them three or four times to show my colleagues. Not that I minded. Gonna have to schlep them home on the bus, I think.
