I'm putting the word out. This season, I am going to try and put together groups of four to do some single-day heliskiing out of Alagna, Zermatt, La Thuile or Valgrisenche. Anyone who's interested, please let me know.

I'd be up for that sometime in the second or third week of February.

I was originally planning on going to Champoluc for a week with a friend, but she had to pull out. So I'll be going solo (no plans booked yet). I'm hoping to avoid the third week of the month because of the half-term prices and crowds in the UK airports, but it's still doable.




Lots of respectable people have been hit by trains.

OK, let's keep in touch. I'm free on and off in Feb, making inquiries into various projects. Valgrisenche is especially appealing.

I'm hoping to get to Champoluc in early January - I've not skiied in Italy before, but the boss loves it.

If God hadn't meant us to ski, why did He give us mountains, snow and gravity?

Alright, keep us Italian-based Bears informed. Maybe we can hook up. I'm pondering this day heli idea, as well as various guided options. I know a very good guide at Alagna, for example, which has a lift link via Gressoney to Champoluc. And of course I'm always at Made...

The Champoluc ski school/guide company does a free day of guided off-piste skiing each week, conditions permitting. So if you're staying in one of the hotels, check with the front desk about that. I think the ski school also does a free on-piste tour from Champoluc to Alagna as well.

That's one of the reasons I like the place: no crowds, free guides (for a day), what's not to like?

It's a nice mountain, I've only skied part of a day there, but the place has a lot to recommend it. It is, unfortunately, on the far end of the Monterosa ski complex; Gressoney is more central.

Hey! i'm thrilled at the idea. Mr. P will you keep the records or shall we keep this thread up to date with dates, places and plans ?
Champoluc has one of the few bumps "wall" (i.e. a small portion of a run) left this side of the Alps.
I also have friends skiing there, so a one day rush visit there is possible....Mainly on the week ends though.
