Which pair of skis do I get rid of?

 I ski Killington 10 -12 days/yr and 1 trip out west each year.  This year's trip is to Utah.  Up until last winter, I skied the Volkl AllStar 168 cm (I am 5'7", 150 lbs, 54 years, and ski whatever the mountain offers).  I won a free pair of Rossi Phantoms SC80 last fall and due to the outstanding eastern snow skied them most of the winter at Killington and out west at Lake Tahoe.  They were really great in Killebrew and Mott Canyons and all the Nevada side trees in 18"+ of powder when I was there.

I am looking to pick up a pair of Volkl Mantras for this season (probably the 170's unless anyone thinks I should be on a 177) and need to get rid of a pair of skis to keep the wife happy.  So the question is which skis do I bring to the Killington Ski Swap next weekend, the Volkl AllStars or the Rossi Phantoms.  I love the All Stars on hard snow (or ice), even in boot deep powder. I also really like the Phantoms but don't think they are the hard snow ski that the All Stars are - 

Suggestions welcome -

I wouldn't dump the Rossis just because they're Rossis. But, I skied the Phantom 80 in washington last Spring and really thought they sucked. I didn't like them at all. And I've owned several pairs of Rossis over the years, and still own a couple pair.

Seriously though, All Stars, Mantras, and an 80mm tweener ski like the Rossi makes a nice three dart quiver.  Find a friend with a BSL and weight close to yours and let them hold/borrow a pair if you have a strict two pair limit at home.

Smell that?  Winter's coming!

Why would the wife want you to get rid skis??? It's not like like they take up the space of a car...

More like keep all three and buy jewelry for the wife - she doesn't ski anymore due to an arthritic knee - but she is a good sport about it.  The All Star is a really a great ski - for the groomers, bumps, and even in most eastern conditions.  The Mantra for those few days in the East when one is actually at the mountain on a weekend when the "big dump" occurs and that one trip a year out west (at least until I get done paying college tuitions).  The Rossi while a fun ski just doesn't have the "feel" that I love about the Volkls.  It sounds like the Rossis will go!

Next question - what length for the Mantra's, the 170 or the 177?

170 for the Mantras.  I didn't like them at all in bumps, FWIW

The 170 is perfect.  I'm 5'10" 162 and ski the Mantra's in 177...perfect.  I was in a simialar situation a few years back when I bought the Mantras.  I did the same thing, sold the tweener, and kept the Volkl 6 STARS.  Unfortunately the 6 STARS spent more and more time in the basement and I haven't used them in the last 2 years, just love the the Mantras, so don't be surprised.  The 6 STARS  go to the swap this fall with 4 other other pairs of family skis...putting the cash toward new Mommy skis.  She likes the Scott Sheela's.

Thanks for the suggestions.  Will definitely dump the Rossi's, spoke to my ski shop in Killington and they have some 170's from last year.  6 Stars were stiffer than All Stars, although I am really curious to see how the Mantras will fare in Killington's "firm" snow.
