If God hadn't meant us to ski, why did He give us mountains, snow and gravity?

This used to be a ski site but now it's Walmart.

I haven't really been paying attention to the ads, but is that the only non-skiing related one?

hardly - but what are ski ads anyway? Look at a ski mag - they barely have ski ads these days.

True. I have been seeing a lot of hunting related ads lately, plus quite a few ads for the Chevy Silverado. I guess our ads are just lumped into a general outdoors theme?

I checked and learned that we're doing a test with an ad agency that will end today, and we'll let them know our membership objects to gun-related ads.

Just for the record, I don't object to gun-related ads, truck ads, clothing ads, resort booking agency ads, feminine hygeine ads, miracle superfood ads, or anything else that's thrown at us. I simply ignore them.

Even Walmart doesn't sell firearms anymore.  I don't mind the ads (any of them so far) as long as we can get them to stop popping up and blocking the reply text boxes.  Still happens occasionally.  As long as they aren't selling adult rated material or showing photos of aborted babies I can tune them out and don't mind my kids looking over my shoulder at them.
I'd rather be skiing

I've been protesting this ad in another thread. I have to say, the tone of discussion on the issue has been pretty mature, and that's nice to see.I know we have a lot of hunters here, and people of all different political stripes. But I think we all agree that, on Epic at least, we should stick to skiing. I would oppose gun control ads here too. Though maybe not as adamently.

In all fairness, the ads are here to keep the lights on, not to line the pockets of admin.

Some ads can (emphasis on "can") show up due to discussions, and key words used by this forums members.

Because we have an off season sports area, its possible that we'll see ads pop up that are related to discussions in those areas.

I've seen golf ads, bike ads and vacation ads in my view, which I assume have to do with topics I've participated in.

The alternative to paying the bills to keep the lights on is not something I'd like to experience.

Still, I think you'd agree that political ads wouldn't be welcome here. Anything that divides us into sides other than the usual fat skis vs. skinny skis, East vs. West, or large vs. small pole baskets doesn't strike me as a good idea.

While I agree with the point that politically charged ads shouldn't be allowed any more than politically charged threads(excluding the PHT lounge), all that was necessary to get them turned into the ad people and have them pulled was a polite request, which is what was done by most who saw these ads.
After all, we don't all see the same ads.
Thanks to those who made the polite request.

Just goes to show....hissy fits and threats to leave are not necessary.

Solution:  OPENDns.  I'm not seeing any ads other than the sponsors.  I'm telling you, the pages load faster and there's none of the distractions of blinking lights, etc. from all those ads.

There's no such thing as bad weather, only bad equipment.
