Awesome ideas for recycling old gear

Hey all, new to the forum, but I stumbled upon this today and thought it was pretty sweet.  Anybody have more ideas for recycling old ski gear or making it into something else?

Hey Blenz, welcome to the party.  There are those among us that will make the sign of the cross when they see you pic; I like it.

Have seen a few of those over the years, think it would be lots of fun.  Learned long ago with Adirondack chairs that the arms should be real wide, built in tables .  How about snowboards for arms?

Anyhow welcome and sure you will hear more about your pic.  There is a newbies introduction sight some place on here find and introduce yourself.  Talk to you later.

Welcome to Epic!
I hope those skis died before being dismembered.  I'd still rather ski them than sit on them.
Other uses for ski gear:

Marker Door Knockers.
Chairlift Swings

Some folks build their whole house from old skis:

I concur. I just got some Nordica 5 buckle leather boots that are in primo condition (and fit) so I can go out on some classic skis in authentic boots.

One way to recycle would be to pass them on to someone in the More Retro Memories thread. We are all just ga-ga over older gear. Some of us go for wood, some for metal and fiberglass, but I don't think anyone in that thread would cut up something before it is totally ruined.

I do have a pair of skis that I have screwed together in an X shape so that I can mark the utility pedestals in my yard in the winter. The rest of the time, they adorn my back porch. I just put duct tape on the edges so they don't discolor my house paint.

I have some Markers that I am going to turn into door knockers. I just have to get them when I'm back East. Are these typically mounted directly to the door or door frame or on a piece of wood that is then hung to the door? Any pictures? Should I include a toe piece with the heel piece?

Comprex, is that a pot plant those Volkls are holding up?

Is that how they came up with their graphics?

I wish.

BTW, if you look under the carriage bolt, the little smear there is residue from a cork and plastic damper.

Anyone remember the name for those?   Still have them someplace.

Nah.    I still want a pair of the big square hoop ones.

These were smaller little damping modules, a plastic cover on top of a metal cup on top of a cork bed, all glued to the ski.    Volkl's answer to VAS?

Philpug, hope that your door knocker won't blow apart if used to aggressively.  Could be bad in inclement weather.

 Very cool.

Stranger, I hear that aggressive knocking has been known to cause prerelease of the deadbolt.

The Prototype; son hated it.

Final product; dog hated it.

Same skis under a box made from scrap wood.  It actually works great.  Grandson likes going for rides in it too.

Russian Black Tulas.

The vines got huge, too, up and over the tips, then down the other side.   Best yield ever.

Unfortunately, the view to the facing street AND the afternoon sun is now blocked: can't grow those in that location this year.     There's a 3-story McMansion  there now.

Hehehehe!  Awesome pics all!  I think crgildart's lift swing was my favorite.  Thanks for the warm welcome - I'll go find the newbie section and introduce myself properly. :)
