Getting a pair of 09/10 Salomon Lords - 177cm (128/87/115) and I am going to pair these skis with a set of Salomon STH 14 bindings.  The Lords being 87mm at the waist, should I go with the 90mm or 100mm brake width and why?  I'm thinking the 90mm to keep things clean and for less overhang but might they be too tight a fit with only 3mm to spare?  Would the 100mm be a safer route?

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks.

The 90 MM should be more than fine. I had a pair of Volkl Bridges with the Marker Jesters on them. I had a 92mm waist ski.....with a 90 mm brake....it worked for me. Plus that 100 mm.......may drag in the snow if you like go rip some turns....just a thought.

I figured as much, I will go with the 90mm.

Hmmm... I've wondered about actual brake widths.  I have demoed fat skis with brakes that were NOT wide enough -- they only came down some of the time.  I discovered that when I set the skis down to put them on and then noticed them gliding away...

So for a new pair of 102 wide skis I bought the 115 mm brakes instead of 100 mm.  Did I make a mistake?

You should be fine with 115mm though will have some added overhang that may contact the snow depending on how deep you like to carve your turns.  I might have tried to find a binding with a brake that was 105 or 110mm.

Or what you could have done is taken the brake off. Heated it up with a butane torch and bend the brakes ever so slightly wider. Just another thought.
