I someone in western NC's selling a chair on Craigslist   If it were located closer I'd be toying with the idea of hanging it from a big maple tree out back.

Smell that?  Winter's coming!

Snowmiser thanks for posting.  Cool photos.  H'mm maybe if I didn't have so many other projects going on.  My wife would kill me if I started yet another project without finishing the others.

I painted a few ski lift chairs in my day.  100s actually.  Yup sanding is hard work.  You definitely did an awesome job.

I need to make a stand just like yours!  I refurbished this chair a few years ago but have yet to hang it. I am told by the seller that is was from Aspen (although when I talked to him a 2nd time he said it was from Breck).

I made my seat from oak -- I saw an old chair on display in Aspen and took some photos and recreated it the best I could. Your colorful seat looks great!

Don't know when I will refurbish the Borvig quad I also have -- that thing weighs a ton!

Wow MidwestPete!  Your chair looks GREAT!  I considered doing the wood in oak like that but figured that it would need too much upkeep.  That looks really nice though!

I am now considering making some adirondak (sp) chairs out of a bunch of old straight skis that I have salvaged over the years.  My neighbors are going to think that I've totally lost my mind once those go out in the yard!

My neighbors already think that since I make snow in my yard. At least they can't say we are boring!

With so many abandoned ski resorts in VT, finding a chair shouldnt be too hard.  I remember seeing a small place with chairs thrown all over the place, problem is I dont remember if it was NY or VT or where.  I really want one, the other problem is transporting it.

To ski or not to ski is not the question.

You seriously have artificial snowmaking facilities in your garden? That is awesome!

You could also add an old auto leaf spring to the tower and mount the chair to the end of that--it would give you the bounce that the cable adds to the experience.  Then close your eyes and dream away.

And don't forget to have oil dripping from it

I make it in the front yard since that is on the north side of the house (more shade). Note the green yards across the street.

I love making snow! I have one 11 year old son, but I would make it even without a child. Actually home snowmaking is getting somewhat common. You just need temps below 28 degrees. I bought mine on the internet.

Across the pond the "garden" is the grass area around your house.  The "yard" is where you store your trash cans.

What kind of air compressor do you need to make one work?

Looks like an old Riblet chair.
He might be close, Breck was owned by the Aspen Ski Co at that time, along with Blackcomb and Panorama.

Nice chairs, I would love to have one.   I do have one of the old Little Nell Picnic tables!

I bought mine at Sears for about $500. I believe they need to be the kind that take oil (I suppose since it runs non-stop). You also need a pressure washer.

The process is a bit noisy. I was excited when I first bought my snow maker, but the temps were a bit mild. One night at about 2:00 am the temps dropped enough so I went outside and cranked it all up. Just when it started to spit out snow  my wife woke up and told me to shut it off  before I woke all the neighbors! So now I wait until about 7:30am to make snow.

Snowmiser, you did a great job.  Love the chair next to the water etc. can sit there and watch everything, Beer in hand and wait/dream of the upcoming powder.

Thanks a lot Pete!  You totally inspired me with your chairlift creation!  Looks great!!!  Very authentic!  I'm amazed at how often I use it.  My little one will be skiing with me next year, so I'm on it all of the time with her to get her used to it!
