ABC announces the cast and team pairings of new alternative series The Superstars, a fresh take on an old favorite. The eight athletes are Jennifer Capriati, Brandi Chastain, Robert Horry, Jeff Kent, Kristi Leskinen, Lisa Leslie, Bode Miller and Terrell Owens. The eight celebrities are David Charvet, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Dan Cortese, Paige Hemmis, Julio Iglesias, Jr., Joanna Krupa, Ali Landry and Estella Warren. The series is based on ABC's classic Wide World of Sports series of the same name, which pitted athletes from all different sports against each other to determine the best athlete in the world. The Superstars pairs the celebrities with the athletes to compete in varying sporting events. Participants found out who their selected partners were only when they met for the first time at the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas. The six-episode series premieres TUESDAY, JUNE 23 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

Every week a team will be eliminated until one team is ultimately crowned the winner. Competitors' athletic prowess and strategy will be put to the test to excel in events including swimming, biking, running and kayaking, in addition to other head-to-head athletic challenges everyone must try to conquer.

The team pairings for The Superstars will be Terrell Owens & Joanna Krupa; Jeff Kent & Ali Landry; Robert Horry & Estella Warren: Bode Miller & Paige Hemmis; Kristi Leskinen & Maksim Chmerkovskiy; Lisa Leslie & Dan Cortese; Jennifer Capriati & David Charvet; and Brandi Chastain & Julio Iglesias, Jr.

The Superstars past winners include football stars Herschel Walker in 1987 and Jason Sehorn in 1998, decathlete Dave Johnson in 1993 and Olympic skier Bode Miller (who makes his return this year) in 2002.

I like how Bode owned everyone on the bike but then messed up his knee. Seems ironic..

As I said elsewhere

, I reckon he couldn't run afterwards -because- he rode the bike like that.

I thought KL would be far stronger on the bike than she was.

Now on Mondays.

She absoulutly was stronger on the bike in the long run. Thats probably the reason she and her partner placed 2nd or so, ahead of bode

If Kristi & Bode were teamed up, they would be unbeatable.  From what I saw last night, Bode's partner is not too bad though.  On the bike just like in his skiing, Bode couldn't pace himself.  Full charge right from the start.

T.O. and Joanna Krupa were the night's entertainment, reality TV wise. Her last scathing words, "And you call yourself an athlete." To which T.O. responded, "Girl, I feel sorry for your boyfriend." Glad I stumbled on the show last night...

T.O. has great sportsmanship after being kicked out but Joanna flew off the handle.

Yes, I believe they are in 2nd.
Ever since the original Superstars inception where Killy ended up winning, skiers have always done well.

In the skiing off-season, I've lowered myself to covering "reality sports" with a skiing angle. Here are the results http://tinyurl.com/mdoz9g Also, a slideshow of Leskinen there that I'm guessing male bears might enjoy

I think Kristi Leskinen and her partner are going to win this thing. Granted, she and T.O. already have the best abs awards nailed down

Bode Miller in the upper body is not really cut at all, I'm guessing he has some strong leg muscles though.
