Blizzard Magnum 8.1 IQ sizing

Just a quickie...

I'm looking at getting some Blizzard Magnum 8.1's and can' find any info on sizing.

I am 6'2" 85kg and would consider myself a fairly aggressive advanced skier (ski anything I can find here in NZ). My previous ski is a Rossignol Bandit B83 176cm but am wanting something a bit stiffer (torsionally) this year. I probably ski 60/40 off/on piste.

I am thining of getting the Magnum in a 172cm. Any thoughts?

Cheers.

I would say the 178 in the 8.1 at least.

Cheers for the reply. I was considering the 172cm (options are 172cm or 179cm, didn't see 178 - maybe thats a 2010 size?).

Any reason why you think longer is better?

Sorry, 179 then. At 6'2" and your weight you will over leverage the 172. If You MUST go shorter than the 179, go with the 174 8.7.

Cheers for the info. So no go for a 172...damn I can get a sweet deal on that length.

Does the Magnesium side walls on the 8.7 make a noticeable difference?

The 8.7 and 8.1 ski differently for sure, but it has more do do with dimensions than sidewall.  Depending on where you're skiing, the 8.7 may work well for you for an all mountain ski, but as Philpug says, I would go with the 179 for someone your size.
