Poc/Giro

Looking to get a new helmet.  I am looking at the POC receptor bug and the giro omen.  Which one is better for technical features, impact rating.  I dont wear my goggles uder my helmet like a gangsta, so I need something that can hold goggles on the outside.  I want something that wont jostle around.

Features and whatnot don't matter if it doesn't fit. Try them both on and wear for a while.

If they both fit, then I can tell you I like the Omen's adjustment wheel in the back, the fact that there's lots of vents and that they're individually adjustable, and that it looks really cool.

I don't like the goggle retention system, and the G10 is more plush and comfortable.

Any thoughts on a red frequency?

One of my buddies got a RED helmet this season and said he loved it.  It's pretty damn light and doesn't have that bulky feel some helmets have.  He hasn't needed the helmet (knock on wood) so I'm not sure about the durability...

just to add to the mix, http://fwd.five.tv/videos/wind-up-challenge-part-one is a film clip from Britain's Gadget's tv show where the presenters wore another helmet brand, ruroc.

i have a Giro G10 and love it. basically i tried all avaiable to me and this one fit like OJ's glove.  super comfortable, has a channel in the form that is designed to holds googles in place on the sides.  overall, while i think others look better, i wouldn't trade mine for the world.  go with what ever best fits your nogen.

IMO, POC is one of those brands you definately want to try before buying. They have a very close, conservative fit and the oval shape can be scrunchy if your head isn't shaped right. I wear a size 58 helmet and found the large and XL POC helmets totally smashed and abused my ears and brim, even in the size larger than my measurements. The fit was downright painfull. I had the same experience with Marker Cheetah helmets -- couldn't find one that fit comfortably without smashing my ears.

I have never had trouble with Giro. Perfect fit all around my head.

Not all helmet brands fit the same. Helmets, like any other gear, need to be tried out before buying, if you want to ensure a comfortable fit compatibile with your head.
