Your work and efforts are very evident. Thanks.

The members here have been brought into the new year with a totally new forum to find their way through. Many of us wish it could be how it was and efforts have been made to incorporate the old with new ideas, features and hopes for a successful site.

Though I am also among the uncomfortable yet finding my place folks I know the hearts and minds working to improve this site have great intentions to  improve and meet the goals they feel is necessary.

This forum has taught me so much . I'm so grateful.  The contacts with knowledgeable coaches is  unmeasurable in terms of worth . You have to admit it's pretty cool to get some feedback from the coaches that regularly post here.

Carry on . The ride .so far ,has been interesting and there is much yet to be seen .

Now off to resurrect some cool helmet threads .

I was just thinking about this on Monday........

When we work on a huge project, its hard to give ourselves permission to enjoy the small victories on the road to improvement.

There have been many victories for the Huddler team to celebrate.

Whoo Hoo!!

Bwa - I just tried regular search for "helmet". Lots of ancient threads... Very funny result list given recent activity. Cased closed. For now anyway.

Whatever upgrade you made today has now resulted in the right hand box moving all of the time unless I check the "don't follow" box everytime I change pages.  Very annoying.  However, much progress has been made along the way.

That self-moving box is seriously annoying. Can we have a "never, ever, ever show me this useless feature again"  option? I tried to figure out a way to be diplomatic, but both the box and the behavior could go away & I'd be nothing but happy.

Absolutely love the new shading to denote which threads I've posted in.  Been waiting for this one.  Thanks!

My dog loves the bumps too.

I'll let Ted know.  He should be able to get a fix out quickly.

I don't think I've made any comments on all of the changes to the site.   In general, I think they're great and it has obviously involved a LOT of work.  So, thank you.  Sometimes, I might not know how to do something that I did understand how to do on the old site but don't find it difficult to find help to figure it out...so far anyway.  I haven't been on this forum as long as a number of people  have so I can understand a degree of emotional attachment to the former set-up.

Ready for IE 8???

I noticed today that I can't post/reply using IE6 at all anymore.  I was one of the few that could initially.  Not a big concern as I have other browsers available.  IE 8 is currently being installed on my home machines.  I'm quite anxious to try it out here and see how it performs with the Hudddler platform.

I had to rip IE 8 off my PC.  The installation resulted in menus not working on sites I was browsing, even with the "compatibility" setting.  Strangely, it even impacted those same sites in Firefox.  Once I removed IE8, everything started working fine again. (It rolled back to IE7 on its own and I didn't have to use a "restore point"...in fact, restore points before the installation were NOT AVAILABLE or it would tell me it didn't work.)

I'm replying with IE6 right now.  IE7 and 8 both work as well.  When did IE6 stop working for you?

This morning was the first day I noticed it.  I haven't tried it in months.  I'm pretty sure Rossi Smash hasn't been able to get IE 6 to work at all ever.  I've had mixed success with it, but I only run IE 6 on my work machine XP OS thru VPN connection.  Firefox works pretty well here on that machine so I haven't used IE 6 much here.

By the way, all my other machines here at home (not using the Company VPN)  have that Verizon servers issue.  I've only been able to get EpicSki to perfrom well for me using the Safari browsers.  I have XP, Vista, and Win 7 RC operating systems and tried several different versions of IE and Firefox browsers before discovering that Safari is immensly better and rarely crashes compared to the others.

I'd rather be skiing

I like it a lot. Lots of other new stuff to explore to find.

Hi all!  As you've noticed, we did indeed get some new updates running on EpicSki.  Here's a quick run-down of some of the bigger things you'll be seeing:

Signatures are available for Supporters and Sponsors.
You can add text and links, along with bolding and italics (with up to 5 line breaks).

To edit your signature:
  1. Navigate to your Profile page
  2. Scroll down below your image gallery
  3. There you should see "Your Forum Signature"
  4. Underneath that, it says "Edit signature".  From here, you can add text and links.
  5. When you're finished, you can check out the preview and submit it!  It will then be applied to all your past posts.

Semi-variable width is now applied to all pages.  All pages in the forums, as well as wikis and ski/resort pages, will now be able to expand to 256 pixels wider than before.  As you resize your browser, the width of the main content will either get bigger or smaller up to a certain point.  There are still caps on the minimum width and the maximum width, however there are an additional 256 pixels to play with.

Become a Supporter button now has a permanent home at the top right hand side of the header.  This links over to the Wiki with the details on becoming a Supporter.

Reply boxes are now in-line (so no more popover reply boxes).  They're just stuck at the bottom now.  There is still the option to use the "advanced reply" (which is the full page editor with the last 10 chronological posts).

The "Classic" skin got a bit of a touch up.   Now, the darker blue color frames all of the pages with the lighter blue behind the text.

There is now a feature to start a new thread while you're viewing a thread.  For example, if you're reading a thread about relocating to Tahoe but you want to know about the schools and the thread you're reading only talks about restaurants, you can click 'New Thread" to start a new thread in the same forum.

In the forums, you can see how many are viewing a sub-forum.
In addition to seeing how many are viewing a particular area, on the Who's Online page, you can see exactly who is looking at what.

There are a few more minor formatting things (new buttons here and there, a slightly reorganized home page, etc).  Hope you enjoy!

Is there something different about the font in the classic skin now?  I can't get it to look right at all?  I've "reset" it, and enlarged it and reduced it and it just doesn't look right.  It's fine in the thread, but in the list of New Posts, there are a range of font sizes and it's a mess.   To be more precise, the line spacing is too tight for the font or something and the white space looks wrong.

There's no such thing as bad weather, only bad equipment.

Me too, they've figured out us old folks can't half see.  I like this too.  Now to go look at some threads with lots of uploaded and linked images to see how that displays.

Hmmm, seems I am only having the problem in Firefox.  I think I am going to shutdown and restart Firefox.  Might have something to do with the fact it's been up for several days....

No, page looks different in Firefox than in IE.  In IE, the font in the Classic and "new" skin is similar, but in Firefox it looks different.

Just when I got used to the tiny font, they make it bigger.

Would it be possible for you to share a screen shot?  Here's one I just took with my installation of Firefox 3.0.11 next to Internet Explorer 7.0.5760.11:

This is what I get with two windows open in IE, the one on the right in the Blue & White skin and the one on the left in Classic:

Let me know what differences you're seeing and if they're seeming to be just limited to the All New Posts page.

Thanks for your patience!

Ok, I know you can't please everyone, and someone is always complaining about something... but with the new look that was just implemented, is there any way to turn off the highlighting of the thread that your mouse is hovering over?  I find that very distracting when I'm scrolling around.
