what is new, different and special about the so-called "Efficent Dynamics Technology"?
are the WC and Pro lines still around?
food for summer thinkings

EDT = stiff boot lower
WC/95 mm shape is changed a bit, but VERY similar
Pro/98mm = same
aggressor/offset = gone
overall, still very similar lineup for shape, just the EDT sole is stiffer
There were about a dozen pairs of the race Dobermann's with the EDT footbed technology in the country this past year, I believe. USST guys and sub 25 point skiers. All guys. The boot was essentially a straight last 160. seeing the four bolts holding the plate in place made them very recognizable. These are boots you can't buy. The EDT made the boot incredibly rigid torsionally. I heard that most of the guys liked it. Some I believe went back to the normal 160. One of the downsides that I heard about was that with the metal plate, they were incredibly cold. Go figure. Plug boot, thin liner, metal under foot....sounds cold to me. I guess that a deturned version might create some marketing buzz. Don't see how this will help the mere mortals in terms of performance. No need for it, IMO.
At least one store is already offering them, with a description and diagram:
Interesting. Entirely different that what I was trying to describe, and as I suspected, it looks like good marketing. The guys skiing in the forerunner of this technology were in what I think was the Dobermann 160 shell, and it was refitted to include this very rigid bootboard {zeppa}. The bootboard was bolted in place with the four bolts. I first saw one of these at US Nationals a year ago. Keep in mind that at that level, Nordica techs spend hours and hours dialing in their athletes to their specific needs with respect to fit: angles, cant, flex, cuff alignment, blah-blah. Whatever works. They're already pushing the standheight to the max allowable. My understanding was that the technology for these guys was the fixed, ultra rigid boot board which made the boots torsionally incredibly rigid. I doubt if this new version of the Dobermann Pro has a metal bootboard. I do know some Dobermann retailers who felt that dropping the older straight last Pro 130 was a mistake. That was/is a great boot. Will be interesting to hear of how these ski, and sell.
