I'm enjoying a spring ski trip to the Front Range this week with my son.  Here is a blog we are keeping with comments, pics and vids:

Nice reports Jim and VinceThumbs Up

Good to see you out there squeezing the last bit of juice out of the lift served season.

My dog loves the bumps too.

Highlands is only $19 this weekend with any season pass, $39 w/o and lots of deals on lodging.

I'd be there but I'll will be in VA with my senior visiting William & Mary and Washington & Lee.

Have fun with your son!

Shred, many of us Virginians consider William and Mary to be the best state school, but it is extremely difficult to get into.  If your son has gotten in it tells me a great deal about his academics.  UVA is more famous, but W&M is tops academically in many ways.

I'm probably biased since I used to teach at W&M, but it really is a great school.  Students get exposed to a genuine "college experience" with a heritage that goes back 300+ years.

Above three pics were taken at Copper Mtn today 4/18 where some big snow has fallen in the last 48 hrs. Here an extraordinarily nice thing happened.  A member of the www.epicski.com online community who I’d never met before recognized me from viewing photos in a blog I have going on www.dcski.com.  His Epicski name is Alta6 and he was accompanied by a couple other friends including another Epicski member going by the label Mr Vertical.  I was a little hesitant to join them for some runs fearing I’d impose on them, or worse - slow them down.

These guys were so gracious I quickly got over any funky feelings.  Over the rest of the afternoon they treated my son and I to a guided tour of some great runs we would have never found for ourselves including  the Enchanted Forest on Copper Peak and some deep, deep pow in an area called Union Meadows off Union Peak.  These guys were GOOD and inspired us to raise our game.  It was an exciting finish to a ski week neither of us will ever forget.

first pic:  Mr Vertical is fearless, guy skis imaginative lines dipping in and out of glades and throwing a little air now and then.

Second pic:  Alta6 leading the way as usual, guy can ski all conditions and terrain like a piece of cake.

Third pic:  L-R, my son, Mr V, their buddy Steve, and Alta6

Thanks for the afternoon tour guys!  This epic community is amazing.  Afterwards my son said, "dad you sure know a lot of good middle aged skiers."  "Respect your elders," I replied.

That's cool Jim, I always like skiing with folks from Epic.  Have met some great people.

I like that quote from Vince, it's quite the back-handed compliment!

Hmmm, I think I saw you guys there yesterday. We were skiing off Sierra yesterday afternoon ... hit Union Meadows ... etc. It was nice!

I must say, I have never heard Loveland pronounced like that before.

And stupid question, what's with the continuous double pole plants?

I recognized Alta6 immediately!

We have had the pleasure of skiing with him.

Glad you're having a great trip with your son.  Keep up the Grins!

Classic sign of mis-calibrated poles......
