May the Bird rest in peace

I recall attending a baseball game at Tiger Stadium when I was about 10 or 11 years old.  The stands were crazy with chants..... The Bird!!!

I went home on a crowded school bus with a big grin on my face because I had my very own poster of Mark the Bird Fidrych!

His baseball career was short lived, but wow, what a fun time it was!

There is no mistaking his energy, and later years, there was no mistaking his passion for people.

He returned to Michigan for charity events many times over the years and never changed his kid like passion for life.

Mark Fidrych will be missed.

Surviving is essential, thriving is incredible!

Fidrich is one of those people that will be remembered for what kind of man he was even more so than that he was a pro athalete.  He was very cool indeed.  The Phillies announcer Harry Kalas also died yesterday.  At least he went out with his beloved Phillies on top

I'd rather be skiing

I saw him pitch against the A's, really liked him, very sad he died.

Unfortunately, missed a lot of great baseball until MLB became a fixture on TV in Japan. But always enjoyed reading about The Bird. It's sad when we lose someone who obviously touched a lot of people and made a difference.

Yeah, sad news.  I saw him pitch a couple of times.  I was at the age where it was really important to see someone who danced to the music in his own head and was still embraced and respected.  He was one of a kind and I'm sad to hear of his passing.

My dog loves the bumps too.

There are certainly  few in sports who could compare to this guy and his anticks on the mound and the dougout. A rare personality and one who brings a smile to your face instead of the head shakes of today's money grubbing thugs who play baseball not for the sport, but for themselves andd their personal gain.

Although he will never be in the hall of fame, he will be remembered. I know I will.

There is no Darkside of the moon. It's all dark
