Trying to Get New Goggles

Hey all.  I'm trying to invest in a decent pair of gogles  and dont know where to shop.  I've heard that prices go all over the board (no pun intended) for similar specs.  Any recommendations?   Thanks in advance

If you are in no hurry, keep an eye on www.tramdock.com/ -- you can find some great goggle deals there at the end of the season.  May also want to watch www.brociety.com/ which is snowboard specific, but also has goggles.  Those are "one deal at a time" sites with a quick pace (~ 20-30 minutes per deal), so keep an eye on the deals in order to jump on whatever comes up that you want.  Finally, check out www.backcountry.com/ as they are having a big sale on ski stuff right now (they also have an outlet section of the store with goggle deals).

I like Smith goggles for the overall quality and the selection of different lens types (I swap different tints as needed depending on weather).  Generally, you can get a $100 Smith on sale for about $65, and see them on Tramdock for $40 or so.  That sort of gives a rough distribution of prices I have been seeing for the high-end Smiths (obviously they have cheaper models as well).  Last year I got some Smith Prodigy (mens) goggles for myself at the sale price, bought an extra pair when they came up on Tramdock, and then got my wife a pair of women's Smith Anthems on Tramdock too.

Factors to consider are lens tint, gender, and face size.  Normally all that stuff is posted in the specs.  Good luck!

I have two pairs, both of which I bought off Tramdock.

My recent ones are a pair of Zeal Dominators that can retail for $100 plus but got on Tramdock for $45.  These are polarized, which, in addition to the factors skier219 mentioned, is something I would highly recommend in a goggle or other eyewear.  Greatly reduces glare on sunny days, and helps with the visibility on the low/flat light days.

Believe it or not, but polarized is actually a hindrance in flat light, as it filters out what little indirect light there is!
