PJ & Marcus commit to getting in shape for 2009/2010

I am there with ya. I started about a week before ESA. I started taking vitamins and drinking less. I was not the fish I normally am on big trips, I drank very little..relatively to my usual habits.I have really felt the difference so far, I am a bit nimbler and less tired. I started at just over 200lb, I am now at 192 the goal is under 180 by 9/1/09. I want to be a lean mean skiing machine.

I'm in with you on this program.  20# in 6 months, I can do it.   Will miss the micros though.

Current plan is for 130+ hours between right now and July 4th weekend.   

Any sweaty machine will do but what in the blazes do I watch for that long without my brains dribbling out?     Outdoors for me, I think.

When the SkiDiva's did this, a bunch of them committed to some tri-athalons.

 You guys man enough to do what the Diva's did?

Perhaps a Diva/Bear Challenge is in order?

But where are those of us who are both Divas and Bears supposed to go? 

I'm one of the crossovers who is doing triathlons.  And other races.  If funding holds I'll be doing 1 10k, 1 sprint tri, 1aquabike duathlon, 1 olympic tri, 1 5k and 1 century ride between now and September 13th.  First up is the Bolder Boulder 10k on May 25th.  Who's gonna join me?

I'd agree with that.  

Seriously, no way Jose am I running at race pace ever again.    Too much injury, too much impact, too much chance of tearing the Achilles -again- and missing ski season.   Counterproductive.

and just when do you find time to fit a little work into that schedule????????
 

Seriously, I'm taking my road bike out for a good tune-up along with new tires.  Time to get back on the road again.  I use to do  a coupla century rides a year around here.  Need to get legs/aerobic back in shape!  I'm really not lookin' forward to the pain in the next 4 weeks.  I just gotta do it though.  Been feelin' a little lethargic here lately......

Maybe we can do a team tri event...with individuals doing a bike ride,  run and swim.....

Yeah, work does tend to get in the way.   Actually, I'm pretty lucky as we have a shower here so I can run at lunch and/or ride to and from work.  Through the winter I've been training 4-8 hours per week outside of work and skiing and it will only increase as ski season closes peaking at probably 6-12 hours per week.  Fortunately I did a 3.5 hour spin-a-thon event with my group spin and ride people this weekend and won a free tune so I'm picking up my freshly tuned bike this week. With this schedule it's no wonder I'm single.    

The team tri event sounds interesting but given our distant locations how would we make that work?

Count me out.  I've learned long ago not mix beer, wine and hard liquor.  I'm focusing my endurance training on just drinking beer.

Way to go Marcus and Ragin!

Ok, guys---I'm in....significantly less of me next year at ESA--Stowe.

 I'm in too.  A couple of days into my first of 2 12 week programs.  Will lose about 15lbs of fat each time.

4 days lifting, 2 interval cardio and 3-4 normal cardios per week.

6 small meals a day.

Current waist over 35" will be under 33 by July and 31 by September!

About the same size as you. Lets loose the poundage. 

 I've done this program twice before and both times lost about 15lbs and 3" off my waist.

The eating is based on Body For Life, past two times I did the BFL workouts, this time the workouts are using the Max OT lifting methods. 

When we finally meet Phil, we'll be less then we were before!

Count me in Marcus and Ragin.  I want to have to buy new ski pants by November, and not because there is a tear or something. 

I would like to plan some hikes this summer, if anyone in DC/PA area is up for it, let's talk later this spring. 

I would like to lose 20 pounds by ESA in March 2010.

Let's try and keep each other motivated.  I am starting to implement an excercise program, even on my nights that I work.  I have already told my hsuband that I am doing this so he can either join me since I am the primary chef in the house.

Started today with an early morning walk. Tomorrow will be more of the same or hitting the weights.

Let's do it.

I swam 1500 yds tonight.  Tomorrow will be a 5k run in the a.m. and strength and a 15 minute ab class in the p.m.
