line Prophet 100 vs. Solomon x-wing

Please help! i am currently riding Line Twelve Sixty skis and want an alternative all mountain ski. I am looking hard into an All-mountain ski and really like Line's prophet 100 for an all purpose ski, but a friend of mine who works at a shop who says alot of people recomend the Solomon x-wing. i was just wondering what people thought about each ski before I commited to one. i really want a ski that can ski powder (unlike my Twelve-sixty's can) but be avb to handle resorts. Since I bought my skiis, I have only rode Line twin tips since i bought my original skiis so I might be a little biased, but i really like the Prophets stats right now. I'd really like a good comparison before I try and make a decision so please help!

If you like the Line Prophet 100 then try the Volkl Mantra.  At least I've found it's one of the best all mountain skis for someone who doesn't spend a lot of time on ice.  As for the Solomon, I've never liked the feel of a Solomon, the Volkl always seemed more alive.  Want something more versatile for the front-side, check out the AC50.  Good Luck!  You'll get a lot of different opinions.....

Check out the Nordica Enforcer too, and also the Scott P4. Those two along with the Volkl Gotama and Line Prophet 100 are good skis for powder while still being good in terms of all-mountain.

I can't truly compare them because I haven't ridden the other ones, but I do own a pair of Nordica Enforcers and they are awesome skis. I actually have a review of them on my profile.

I ride Mantras 177 and love them.  I demo alot of stuff and don't see any need to replace them as my daily driver.  I like a lot of the other stuff but there are trade offs and I haven't seen a big net/net gain overall to spend the cash and I really like shiny new things.  Demo some skis would be my recommendation, Dynastar LP, Fischer Watea 94/101, Big Troubles, Prophet 90/100 whatever.  You'll find something you like.  Just my opinion, but the X-Wing Furys I demo'd last year are on of my least favorite list, got pushed around, deflected too much for me in Crud.  Just my $0.02.

If I spend any more cash it wil be for a more POW specific ski, just for kicks you know.  You can look good skiing it all on the Mantra and I am sure they are many others as well.  Brand Preference is a consideration but I have been surprised before...even when I didn't want to be.

I own both. If you have to choose one, then choose the Prophets -- unless you're on the ice a lot. In that case, get neither.

For a ski of its width, the Prophet handles the front-side hard snow and ice conditions well; I found it to be fairly stable at speed if it's on edge. Where you want it is in the powder and off-piste, the conditions where it will dominate the Fury. The Fury will hold an edge better in firmer snow, but is not so hot in crud. I also find the Fury to feel a bit more nimble in and around trees.

The Prophet wants to be carved, will tolerate the slarve, but will not be smeared, while the Fury tends to be more forgiving with more turn shapes and styles. The Prophet demands respect from the user, but the payoff is far greater (faaaar greater). The Fury is more laid-back, and truly is, as I believe SJ said in another thread, a Jack-of-all-Trades but a Master of none.

And to throw a wrench in here, I also had a festive day on the Mantras. I went with the Lines because I had more control over them flying through sketchy on-piste conditions.

EDIT:  There is a discussion in the Ski Gear forum (where it bejongs) about the Prophet 90s. They will handle the front-side conditions better than the 100s, I'd think.

I would suggest the X-wing Tornado. A light fun ski. I think that it's more fun than the Fury. BTW there are a lot of skis in the the X-wing series.

Yeah, I was kinda going on and on as if there were only one. I've heard positive things about the others, too.

I demo'd the Sandstorm one day at Kirkwood; I liked it, it was stable and forgiving all around the front side. The Hurricane gets some good press here, too.
