Now on Mondays.
An arms race? He must have gotten tired of being schooled by Subie STI's on his way to the slopes.
The LP640 features 4WD so we can’t imagine there would be much of a problem with using it on the snow
Apparently, they've never heard of "ground clearance."
"Ground clearance"? That thing just needs a periscope.
does it run on 1.21 jogowatts?
WOW that is fugly
I don't think I like it. It would be better with 80's day glow neon rather than the anti radar flat black finish.
My dream ski machine would be a four door Jeep Wrangler (leather interior) powered by a turbine engine.
Whee!
It would be totally /best/ in Mary Kay pink.
AHEM. Pretty sure that's the surfboard model, Annette Funicello's one.
Now on Mondays.
Yeah, it's:
gigawatts ... like gigabytes ... sort of; and
that's no DeLorean, or anything like it. It's a current, super-high-performance exotic sports car. You can pick one up brand new for around $200,000 or so (without the ski box).
Presumably it's moderately useful for transporting skis, dimensional lumber and extremely long baguettes around the city ... not so useful around, you know, actual snow.
Whose car this is I think I know.
His doesn't drive it in the snow
If he tries, he'll be stopping here
To watch his air intakes fill up with snow.
wow...id be embarrassed to show up to a ski resort in that....thats just showing off
unless his girlfriend was with him ![]()

Actually its about $355,000 (but you'd probably pay closer $410k), has all wheel drive, 631hp, 487 ft lb torque, 8/13 mpg, 0-60 3.6sec
How much for the docking semi?
Just couldn't stand holding it in anymore couldya?
Now on Mondays.
I see those rims around here, usually on cars stuck in a ditch at the first hint of ice on the road. (limited tire sellection a problem for a skier) but Jon knows that and has other rides for actually driving in the mountains.
I remember a picture in Powder Magazine in the 70s or 80s of the body of a Lincoln Continental with suicide doors mounted on a four wheel drive truck chassi. That's my fantasy ski vehicle. Screw the gas mileage!
lolwut?
Fat skis suck in powder, your boots need to be 100% perfect to carve, breckenridge won't stay open due to liability...
This place is fun.![]()
Nice car! Don't like the flat black so much - prefer the green in the video.
I actually visited the Lamborghini factory last summer, which unlike Ferrari you can do. You might need a tour though like we used.
They had the coolest body protection panels for use inside the factory to protect the finish. They were these ribbed black plastic panels that were all over the car. Looked very cool - like something in an advanced Robocop movie. I told the woman they should market those. Olsson would like them - then he could bounce off the car on skis - use the car like a rail and not hurt it. It would actually look better too than his version.
Great find, RR! "We can't imagine there would be much problem using it in the snow." Nope. Unless you needed more than 2" of clearance. Or had to turn.
Swedish skier, body by Lamborghini, brain by Mattel.
5'' clearance FYI, subaru STI only has an inch more. Traction wouldn't be a problem on snow packed roads, it's not like skinny tires can bite through pack and hit the road, and with the crazy width of the tire you have a lot of room for studs/sipes/knobbies.
If you watch the non mix vesion of the video it talks about the traction control. It limits completely the power input to the wheels so they don't spin!! He's got it floored and barely moving. Not sure it's so great...
Gimme an RS6 Avant. Thats my ultimate ski car.
Hmmm. Think we need Phil or some other car guy in on this. Not familiar with Subaru's, and I'll buy the 5" if you insist, but my SUV (4-Runner) has a whole lot more than 6" - I'll measure tomorrow when I drive it next - and it has flat, heavy, skid plates underneath to protect vital bits from boulders etc. More to the point, real snow/mud/rock cars have transmissions, spring rates and suspension aimed at their task. Don't think the Lamb's is optimized for ploughing through slippery crud and muck. The whole thing looks like he watched Batman Begins one too many times, got to thinking the Lamborghini/Hummer lovechild Batmobile was real.
And as far as I know, you're wrong about tire width; the more actual SA in your contact patch (whether from width or from narrower tread grooves), the better grip on dry pavement and the worse grip on slippery surfaces. (Which seems to define "pack.") Or so sez my R&T mag. I'd assume the more weight you have concentrated on the smaller the patch, the more penetration. Other ideas?
The car was in perfect control, what's wrong with that?
To quote him on how well the system worked, "It's incredible... as near to crash proof as you can get".
And without it on, "this is very hard work".
Penis envy much?
