Yesterday at Stratton was the best Spring skiing day so far this season - a 10 on a scale of 1-10.  The weather was perfect - mid 60s, partly cloudy with a light, balmy breeze.  The temps were warm enough to soften even the iciest parts of the slopes.  I can't think of a better way to spend a Spring day than slashing through the slushy snow and bumps in my shorts.

There was a good crowd on the slopes.  Both parking lots 1 and 2 were nearly full by 9:00 AM.  Fortunately, the lift lines were very short.

I spent the first part of the day skiing the runs off the American Express lift with my family and friend, Joel.  After the snow got wet and heavy at mid-day on the lower part of the mountain, I spent the rest of the day skiing the big, slushy bumps on Slalom Glade, World Cup and the left side of Upper Standard. I also skied some runs with my daughter off of the Snow Bowl lift - Mikes Way, Janeway Junction and Upper East Meadow.

Thanks!  Very cute kid, what is she doing with her hands it almost looks like she is having a conversation.

I am not a Spring skier type, but I am so itching for some more ski days, wish things had worked out and I had met you up there.  I might have to settle for the swimming pool that is Hunter if I want to get any more days this season.

Now if I can make the giant leap and convince everyone to go out West then I would be set!

Richie, Good eye!  She's singing to herself.  She does this on the swing set and on her bike as well.  I need a wireless mic for my camcorder.  It looks like this is a powder week out west.  I'd love to go back out for a week but it's not in the cards.  I've learned to be content skiing the slush.  It's almost as much fun as powder.  (I hope the snow gods aren't reading this.)

I am thinking of heading up to K this weekend.  I am not sure which day.  I will definitely be there on 5/2 so long as it is not pouring rain.

LOL...thats very cute...she might be on to something there, advanced learning tactics, helping smooth things out and calm the nerves.

Way to GO, Ava!

This has been a fine skiing year for Liam and You.

Slushy slopes have a way of throwing you off balance.

You did this trial very well, though.

I'll be shocked if Killington is open until May 2nd. I heard today from Tom Horrocks that the anticipated close date is April 19th,  but that they "may go longer if conditions permit." I'd say April 26th would be the latest they'll be open, but given the recent warm, wet weather, even that date may be a stretch.
