Solitude vs. Brighton for my wife/kids

Long time reader, first time poster...

Going to Utah next week for 3 days of skiing - my wife and kids' first trip out west.  Going to ski Alta for at least one day (I've been there and I like it).  I've skied and like Snowbird as well, but feel it is too steep/intense for my wife and kids.

My wife and kids are advanced beginner/developing intermediates.  So...between Brighton and Solitude (I've never been to either), which has more terrain better suited for them?  My son is fearless (though I wish he would show a little fear. lol)...by wife/daughter can get intimidated by steeps.  Looking at the trail maps it looks like brighton might have more top-to-bottom easier terrain?  (unless they rate their trails like Snowbird).

Thanks,

Hugh

Any other insight appreciated.

Between those 2 brighton. Brighton is amoung the best for what you want in wasatch. solitude isnt bad IMO but the easier runs are steeper at solitude. alta would be the better choice than either IMO as Sunnyside, and cecert lift are about the flattest places at a ski resort ever.

For you brighton has some way underrated treeskiing inbounds and Milicent Lift has some great steeper shots.

Welcome to Epic!

Can't comment on Solitude, but was at Brighton in January and you are right.  It has lot's of top to bottom green and blue groomers in the center area of the mountain.  That area also has lots of snowboarders though since it's where the terrain features are.  The steep stuff is at the area boundaries on lookers far right and left, while the easier stuff is in the center.

You probably can't go wrong with either place.

Have fun!

Thanks.  Brighton it is, then.  Tho we'll probably spend the first day in the Albion Basin at Alta getting them back up to speed.  I would just spend all 3 days at Alta but I'd just like to see some place new.

My only reservation to Brighton is that terrain park right in the middle of things.  I don't have anything against jibbers/terrain parks (tho I don't have any interest in it myself), but my son always seems to gravitate to it and, frankly, he doesn't really have any business being on it at this stage (plus the other 3 of us have no interest in it).

My biggest fear was taking the wife to the top, only to intimidate her on the way down - if I end up spooking her, she is liable to start all of that talk about a "beach" vacation next winter instead of skiing.

Gotta keep momma happy, ya know.

the terrain park at brighton is quite intimidating well except for the smaller section. The section on top will most like scare even the most fearless kids away. ;)

start of on the fixed grip quad and go from there.
