Don't worry, I caught it! Odysseus used the name "Nobdy" in Robert Fitzgerald's fine translation of "The Odyssey." It's probably a more direct translation from the ancient Greek . But if you're looking for a translation that's not a pain to read, I highly recommend the Fitzgerald–great stuff!

My copy of Fitzgerald says "Nohbdy", close enough.

I agree that that his translations of Homer are the way to go, many others were almost unreadable for me.

One person to avoid for the classics, if possible, is Robert Graves...fascinating and talented individual, but he did not care one whit about staying true to the source material.

Yeah, didn't have my copy handy when I posted, but I knew I was at least close!

In total agreement about the Graves, too. Made me a little sad, though, to think he spent so many hours of his life translating, only to have his versions bagged in light of far superior translations!

More Ovaltine, please!

For all your audio needs.

Is that the roadster with the leather strap across the "bonnet"?

I used to admire and covet one of those many years ago.

Fifteen years ago I was mostly using the Internet and email about Siberian huskies.  Just kept the name through the years.

There's no such thing as bad weather, only bad equipment.

I grew up and continue to live in Lake Orion, MI (pronoumced or-e-un). Many years ago I was a drag racer and my car was dubbed The Orion Express by some of my friends at the track as a play on words referring to the book by Agatha Christie, Murder on the Orient Express. When I bought my first computer in 1998, I signed up with AOL and applied for Orion Express as a screen name but it was already taken so I dropped the e's and the rest is history. Karl
